Militant fuel tanker drivers are threatening a national strike which could bring the country to a standstill.
Walkouts by 3,000 drivers, which union bosses are due to confirm this week, will bring fresh misery to Britain’s 36 million motorists, already hit by VAT and fuel tax hikes.
But the domino effect of the dispute — led by union firebrand ‘Red’ Len McCluskey — also threatens fuel supplies to industry, hospitals, schools and the homes of old and vulnerable people who use oil central heating.
The strike action planned by Mr McCluskey’s union Unite, Britain’s biggest, is confirmed in internal documents seen by The Mail on Sunday.
The dispute risks endangering the economic recovery amid fears that fuel shortages could lead to profiteering by garages, where motorists face long queues at the pumps.
It could also spill over into manufacturing industry and threaten shops and supermarkets with food shortages as haulage firms run out of fuel. Few companies carry large stocks of fuel because of the huge expense and the volatile nature of oil prices.
If you look at McCuntsky’s face you can see a evil moneygrabbing power drunk idiot.
Unions times are over, we don’t want to slide back we want to move forward, fuel and food rationing is something of the after war years they are gone.
Bet you he has his oil tanks of his Mansion filled to the brims
But they never target the companies, they target the public, you and me struggle to get fuel, food and have to pay a premium for that.
Unions promote a bigger difference between rich and poor, by striking they put the prices up and so the income for the Big boys.
If they where so good they should let de tanker driver give the fuel away for free, lat the bus passengers travelling without fee, etc, that would get the back-up oif the General Public.
But remember Unions brought this country in the past on his knees and will do it again and will make this country a 3rd world country.
Or this could just be a hyped up story from the Daily Mail, to divert attention from thier friends in the Government.
Makes you wonder what law they are thinking of passing that would upset middle England?
Or maybe get the Tanker drivers to strike and then blame them for future hikes in fuel prices?

Excactly, if you mind right last time they striked, fuel prices went through the roof, a case of demand and supply caused me to pay over 1.50 on some forecourts

^^^^^What Muckles said. Plus rising food prices, broken electoral “pledges”, excessive snow, broken nails, bad hair days etc.

When was that don’t ever remember paying that for fuel.
Also maybe it was companies taking an oppertunity, put the price up by 50p blame the driver supply and demand etc, when it’s over reduce the price by 40p, Bingo you’ve managed to get a 10p price rise and people aren’t blaming you.
The more “rural” stations had serious problems to supply, yes they put the prices up and yes they where to blame…maybe, but the strike give them the reason and posibility to do so.

Something has to be done about the fuel prices…Why did my household oil go up by 110% 30p per lt to 75p per lt before christmas when it was freezing cold…was it because the oil was harder to get out the ground NO was it because the Arabs put the prices up NO!! It was the greedy ‘Local companies’ making a killing when everybody needed it, nothing short of thieving robbing ■■■■■■■■!!!
Its now the same with the petrol and diesel and all the other vatable stuff we buy, people or companies are taking advantage of peoples poor maths to put a massive hike in goods and then blaming it on the VAT increase or they blame people like me and you when they say it’s the hauliers who have put up their prices.
I was in the Barbers the other day and the barber who knows what I do for a living was giving ME a hard time for not going on strike and making the blockades happen !!!

Pricks. I really hope McCluskey suffers some painful, debilitating, violent bowel disorder on a daily basis, possibly involving hedgehogs.
Dunno then?:
On the other hand,we could join in and all get £40K a year
Nah, not worth the effort or hassle for just another couple of grand, a lot of which would disappear in tax.
You wouldn’t be earning anything like the £38k you’re on without the efforts and hardships of union members in the past.
IMO, the unions did a great job in the past, but the power went to thier heads.
Take the tube drivers, by anybodys standard they are on a good wage with good benifits, and yet they always want more, the union should be saying something along the lines of, ‘look lads, we are on a good screw here, lets not mess it up’.
We had 3 cream routes come up at work(i’m a bus driver), mon-fri, days only and £127.50 per day. Cushty cushty jobs.
The rule at my work is that any new job that comes up gets advertised in the bus garage and you put your name down, this is done with the union agreement.
The 1st anyone new about the 3 cream routes was once they had started and the drivers were on them.
Guess what?, one of the drivers is a union branch member!!! FFS!!!
When I challenged my union rep about this his reply was a shrug of his shoulders and “I was on holiday when the new routes came in”.
I left the union that very same day.
