Tanker drivers as bad as tipper drivers

LIBERTY_GUY:
If companies were to stop paying people on job and finish schemes, offering mileage bonus and other ‘incentives’, them the ‘idiot element’ of truckers would be radically reduced. The roads would be safer, truckers would be less stressed and the horrific accidents that occur when speeding trucks cannot stop would be minimised.

What you are saying is sense. the problem is you cannot account for, or consider complete ■■■■ whits to have a similar level of sense.
It doesn’t matter what legislation is brought in the ■■■■ whits will always sit on the limiter for 10hrs, max out everyday, park in the first unsuitable parking place they can find like a lay by with their mirrors folded in :unamused: , in the bunk for alarm set at 8hrs 31.5secs, behind the wheel on 9hrs 0secs and start the next stress filled shift… Like I said ■■■■ whits without a second to spare :unamused: You know who you are
Risking the wrath of drididdlydriver here   , but I have found that most tipper men drive like they have nicked their motor, and most tankers to sit at the speed limit, the Stobart tanker men are more cautious of course, because as we all know they are driving a mobile bomb  :unamused:

  Like I said above :smiling_imp: I’ll have 3 different trailers tomorrow so I’m stumped really how to drive :open_mouth: might be easier to have day off

Or the ones that run out of Essex, mad [zb]s most of em, especially on the roundabout at the A13/M25 junction.

Yup - I’m with you fella. It’s sometimes like a Grand Prix start at the toll booths at the Dartford Crossing :unamused:
I remember reading an article in a truck mag where a tanker driver described himself and his colleagues as ‘creme de’la’creme’ . Still makes me smile.

@dri-diddly-iver (sorry if got spelling wrong)

Just noticed another tread which starts like this: “been offered a job working for a owner driver for bardon was just wondering what this work was like is it similar to tipper work rushing about all day?”

Why would anyone else apart of me think tippers are known for rushing about all day? hmmm…

I’m proud that I once had a call from the TM because I was “driving too slow” on the A420 and holding up some angry motorist who was keen to get to Swindon. I never did get it in writing that I wasn’t going fast enough, but I did get shunted onto quarry plant eventually.

If tipper drivers drive so carefully why does every roundabout in East Anglia have a heap of sugar beet round it during the campaign, just a thought?

Ironic that considering the way tipper and tanker drivers are supposedly so bad, that it’s usually a curtainsider, container or a fridge that’s rammed into the back of another lorry in most of the crashes posted up on here.

Yes but the 8wheelers specialise in cycle squashing. Just google Keltbray and Thames Materials for details, but you’re right when you think about it; It is nearly always those you mentioned in the worst crashes. You don’t see many tippers, rigid or articulated, on fire either.

was thinking the same lol, being a grab/tipper driver myself lol

Ha ha ha, exactly the same thing happened to me, and the call was made by the lorry driver behind me.

On topic though, I’ve always perceived petrol tanker drivers to be especially good. However I did once see one driving like he stole it (I assume he was empty), and it was such a bizarre sight.

These cameras catch trucks too, shame on your TM!

Utter ■■■■■■■■! A idiot driver is an idiot driver no matter how they are paid,I’ve witnessed some of the worst driving by so called " high profile " companies whose public relations officer would have a heart attack in denying such driving was possible by one of there own.
The problem is a self obsessed society who’s perception of anyone else needing to use the public highway is nil, we’ve all witness the overtaking car cut in and slap the brakes on to exit the motorway, well this sort of behaviour has worked its way into the haulage industry.

It’s worked it’s way into every walk of life, spot on about haulage.

I’m surprised by some of the driving by Fuel Tanker Drivers too.

Most are tracked and have all the latest technology on board recording the driving style of every driver.

Once the information is downloaded the driver would be called into the office to explain his Driving. Like almost all companies today everything you do is recorded.

As for the Essex/East London area as some of the worst driving.
It might be explained by the fact almost all of the Fuel companies load at the same place. Vopak West Thurrock.

200 Tankers all looking to load at the same time at the same place with a Maximum of 12 Loading Gantries.

No excuse for bad driving, but if you can just get through these traffic lights and into Vopak before the 6 Tankers that have just come through the Dartford Tunnel then I will be loaded 30 mins quicker.

It’s human nature isn’t it?
