Tanker driver competition anyone interested?

The Federation of Petroleum Suppliers (FPS) has launched its search to discover the UK and Ireland’s best tanker driver.

The oil distribution industry trade association is asking its members to nominate their finest driver for the FPS 2015 Driver of the Year Award, which is designed to encourage oil distributors to continually raise standards of safe driving and customer care.

Dawn Shakespeare, FPS marketing and events manager, said: “Every year, we are pleasantly surprised by the number of nominations we receive and the competition for this desirable award gets tougher each year.”

The closing date for nominations is 31 January 2015 and the winner will be announced in April with the prize of £1,000 plus the award being given to the Driver Of The Year 2015 at their depot so their colleagues can join in the celebrations. There will also be two runners-up who will receive a cheque for £250 each plus an award.

Nomination forms and further information are available via FPS online or by emailing ds@fpsonline.co.uk.

I think I’d have been voted best newcomer…if someone had given me a chance:lol::grin:

BP Oil used to do this when I worked for them, got flown to Edinburgh twice and then got through to the European Entry at Le Creusot in France all expenses paid. Then I think the next couple of years we did it at the Mira test centre at Nuneaton usually managed to get in the top 6 except for the French one and we wont talk about that. Although the Germans stood up for us saying it wasn’t fair we were expected to do it in left hand drives and use the European ADR rules which are slightly different to ours or they were. Its good fun though.
