Tangtastic

Oh dear, what a shame for this Manfreight driver.

@■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ - This driver remained using his mobile phone despite a marked police vehicle driving alongside in lane 2 of the M6 at Carlisle. 6 points & £200 fine heading his way.

shock horror gasp…looks like another perpetrator of evil finally gets his well deserved comeuppance…

Then again he was so engrossed in his call he failed to notice a marked cop car along side him in the middle lane so what else may he have failed to notice !!

I think having the phone there gave it away

Paddyski didn’t see plod in lane two, as he was in lane 3 overtaking plobbers in lane 2.

manfrieghts mob arnt anywhere close to the worst for speeding.
they push on a wee bit but not exactly up to full on tang spec.
the carpark looks deserted so you may not think it was peak traffic times, and traffic plod being what they are, then they do have a habit of driving in a manner to all of a sudden pop up on you.
if your driving on a near deserted ■■■■■■■ m6 in the quiet time in perfect road conditions, then you may think your interest would lie where your eyes are looking out of the windscreen, and not a to an occasional car coming up behind.
all manfrieghts work is ferry work along the 75 which is undoubtedly the most constant entrapment anti truck unfriendly biased 100 miles road section in europe,so the driver will now be under undue stress and pressure with the points even assuming he had none to begin with.
the days of 30 mins of tongue lashing terror and a slap in the wrist have vanished with the modern aptly named woodentop.
poor driver, doing nobody any harm, and now halfway at least to losing his livelyhood if he chances across another slimebag attitude plod.
eve if it meant 12 points and a ban, then they would still never turn a blind eye.
the days of them having a degree of perspective are sadly long gone, and they were bad enough in those days.

Of course, just so engrossed in his phone call that he failed to spot a marked police car driving up beside him.

Doing no harm? Apart from being distracted and not paying attention.

Maybe the 6 points might help the driver to concentrate on not breaking the law.

If the driver was so concerned about his livelihood, he maybe wouldn’t do things that could take away his livelihood. But it’s easier to just blame someone else.

“Slimebag attitude plod”? How do you know? Were you there?

They tried that, it didn’t work. Introducing a punishment of 3 points for illegal phone use made no difference. Double the points to 6, still not a deterrent. I say make it 9 points.

To be fair we all know that using a phone while driving creates too much distraction and the law treats it as such. While, like drunk driving, even if he’s involved in a non fault accident, using a phone while driving will go against him possibly meaning the difference between a prison sentence or walking away.

In which case surely that is/should be a bigger deterrent to anyone than the points. Or possibly even no points in the case of an Irish licence ?. :bulb:

Roads Rat, every profession has individuals who will break the rules or law notice that you didn’t put a big post up on Monday highlighting the article in the Times that the Met’s Anti Corruption department is being investigated for yep you’ve guessed it corruption!! bucket loads of irony there. There are probably more serving police officers under investigation than lorry drivers so while I don’t agree with using the phone while driving don’t think the police are in much of a position to be lecturing on being professional at work.

so we’ve moved on from European bashing to a spot of paddy bashing this week .
Can’t wait for next week - who’s turn is it then ?

dieseldog999:

Because years of doing so has done nothing to alter the attitude of truck drivers on that road. You only have yourselves to blame. Tangs have been given warning after warning after warning for many years and they still continue to drive like pillocks and run bent so now the Police have given up and are just handing out fines and points because it appears only having money taken out of their pocket and losing their license seems to be the only thing that makes them take any notice.

If you know roscos going to cuff and stuff you why cut your phone call short

Agency driver’s should be next week’s targeted group, preferably those who have a permanent hi-viz and a dolly bag.

A quick peruse of the trucking press will show plenty of GB firms having their licence revoked and of course their are no English drivers who drive like pillocks.

Are you permanent employee,or agency that’s two different groups, then you have the rigid driver’s, that’s another group, its going to take ages to decide which group…
