Taking your dog to work

I thought it smelt funny ? :stuck_out_tongue:

There was a subbie on maritime that had a cocker spaniel, it had been in the cab since it was a puppy and if he got a cab search in the docks he would say “HIDE” and it would get in the bunk under the duvet.

Its not cruel for the dog to be the cab as long as it gets regular walks, after all dogs sleep up to 18 hours a day and just love to get involved with whatever the owners doing.

I’m yet to meet one that doesn’t either produce displeasing odours or have yesterday’s excrement encrusted around its arse hole.

Dog or driver?

we had a bloke named mick bostock that used to do the UK work for our firm out of Dover docks tipping and reloading trailers for us to turn round with . he had a rottweiler with him all the time. he even had a dock pass for it so it could go in the dock with him

My dog comes with me twice a week, I can’t leave her at home all day,
When she was a pup, she was an office dog,but we sold the trucks, trailers and yard and I went back to being an owner driver.
So,the wife works Wednesday and Thursday,so she comes with me.
She is good at hiding when instructed, it’s a bit of a pain sometimes more so in winter as her paws get a bit mucky, but she’s small enough to pick up and clean before she goes back in.
The little bugger insists on sleeping o the bed even though she has a dog bed, which,in a volvo fh is a bit tight.
But, it’s my truck so I don’t give a duck.

There was a driver worked with us who took his jack russell cross with him every day, as a result, the cab was matted with dog hair & stank all the time. Pity help anybody being asked to drive it when he’s off!!

I bought a car years ago & the last owners dog left it’s odour, could’nt get rid of the pong on warm days despite rigorous scrubbing & various air fresheners. :imp:

It reckon there’s more smelly truck drivers than smelly dogs.
I actually like the smell of my dog, whereas some “truckers” stink.

I took my jack Russell with me before and it locked me out the cab on a farm lol

I was helping a German girl to strap down today at kings Lynn, she had a dog with her. Said it went all over Europe with her - she had various labels in the windscreen to do with the dog (presumably something to do with the pet passport thing?). Dog looked immaculate, and the owner was fairly tidy as well

i load at a place in knighton powys were a driver as a parrott in his cab

tother week i saw an elderly couple getting a ticket because their dog was on the front seat between them in their minivan and the cop was really laying into them

That’s a bit harsh mate not all dogs are dirty and smelly.

I’m yet to meet one that doesn’t either produce displeasing odours or have yesterday’s excrement encrusted around its arse hole.

Of course, as a dog owner yourself, you’re bound to say that yours are different, just like you’re bound to say they would never randomly maul a little girl to death.

I’ve never looked to see if it has crap around its aris hole but it usually has a good lick (not from me I may add )before it gets back from his walkies .as for mauling a kid to death, at a hefty 5kilos and three teeth in its head it say it was unlikely

I think that I would consider it if I was a day driver who was the only person using the vehicle then going home in the evening.

For me being away all week just wouldn’t suit the needs of the dog or me as a driver, I could find some company if that’s what the dog was there for that smelled a whole lot better.

with all the bull h&s now you’ll never get tipped anywhere so if you pass a dog tied to a fence outside a rdc you know what’s happened

So I guess it a no for me but I understand why people do as I wouldn’t want to come home and she wasn’t here now

There used to be an English bloke working for Ed crest (de rooy) used to have a rotty with him all over Europe often saw him and dog on the Italy Greek ferries in the early 90s and he only had a day cab with a pod
