Taking the p*ss

It’s funny but in any other job if you wasted time and clocked up unnecessary hours at work to get paid for them, it could easily be classed as fraud.

Yet drivers think they are above the law and can cheat a company out of money they actually are not entitled too.

And then they cry in outrage when the company says we can’t raise your wages this year, we don’t have the money :grimacing:

Yep a valid point. Most companies can waste enough of the profits on their own by wasted journeys etc without drivers eating into future pay roses by taking the ■■■■ on jobs.

I will never understand the mentality of people who want to work 13 and 15 hours shifts every day of every week and then an extra shift every other week just for the money.

Despite…

Brexit, covid and the four horsemen of the apocalypse in the last two years, company profits have increased.

Don’t believe the lie that there’s no money left to pay us. There’s plenty, they choose not to reward us that’s all.

Yes mate, on top of ‘‘stretching’’ the hours why not start nicking some diesel too to top up the unjustly low wages? Maybe a bulb or two as well, it all adds up.

I’m not…

Advocating that people resort to theft. I’m saying there’s a huge difference between being unwilling and being unable to increase pay.

Why do …

You do this?

When i first noticed you do it i thought it was a mistake but soon realised you do it in every post.

It’s called playing devil’s advocate. It prompts discussion.

I will never understand the mentality of people who want to work 13 and 15 hours shifts every day of every week and then an extra shift every other week just for the money.

Here’s a view in to that mindset, I need a certain amount of money earned a year, to pay bills, food, savings, living etc. Once I reach that figure, I can stop working for the rest of the year. The sooner I reach it, the more time I have to get away and travel or carry out a project without the need to worry about working.

As I said people who want to work 13 and 15 hours shifts every day of every week of every year and on top every other week an extra shift.

Spending most of their life at work to end up being possibly dead from exhaustion or worse causing the death of someone else’s through tiredness in a truck.

There is only 24 hours in a day and always will only be 24 hours in a day.

Some people are too blind trying to earn as much as possible to realise there is more to life than working excessive hours every day of every week.

Ok, So I was booked for a 12hr shift today. When I turned up, I did 5hrs work, had an hour break, (this agency stop an hour regardless what you take!) then told they couldn’t find anything else for me. They are happy for me to sit about for 5hrs, then sign me out, giving me an hour, (which is what I’m doing) who here, would tell them to keep their £80 and and go home with the 8hrs of guaranteed pay? (obs less tax & NI, so about £55 in your pocket)
The same happened yesterday so the saintly here would be down £110 on the week so far. :smiling_imp:

I don’t get it can you tell me how the first example would prompt discussion and why the second wouldn’t.

Despite Brexit, covid and the four horsemen of the apocalypse in the last two years

noun. a person who advocates an opposing or unpopular cause for the sake of argument or to expose it to a thorough examination

Just because someone has an opposing view doesn’t mean it can’t be used to cause discussion but generally is used to provoke and argument.

I get that completely. I try to do similar. I’ll bang hours in over the winter months (unless I don’t fancy it) but I do so that I can swing two fingers up any additional hours during the lighter summer months when the weather is better.

Different strokes for different folks with differing reasons fo all. I’m not arsed what others do, never have been, always wondered why someone else’s hours/way of life seems to trigger a response from people for whom it’s of no concern. If people want to do 13/15 that’s fine. I don’t but I’m not fussed if others want to.
