Well I’ve bit the bullet today after being a bit nervous about taking that first step, and booked my first 5 driving lessons for a very good price of £60 Now there won’t be a test at the end But this will be to assess how good or bad a driver I am And I shall be booking my theory test next Friday too so at least I get a bit of on the road knowledge etc, I went straight into the driver training center today itself instead of calling up as I think a more face to face approach is a lot better as I at least know the place I’m going to be around
After the 5 lessons and hopefully the theory test pass, I shall hopefully be put onto the Semi intensive course which consists of 30 hours training including the driving test at the end of it. As I explained the situation to the woman I spoke to today about me wanting to become a lorry driver so passing first time is very important. I may do a little training diary although not as interesting as the guys doing their hgv tests I suppose it would be a little interesting
Anyway I’ll keep all informed about the progress etc and I’m that one step closer to getting behind the wheel of a truck, I know it seems a bit silly but it’s very over whelming and doesn’t half make you nervous thinking about it!
nice one Jonny, you will have your class 1 before you know it.
who you booked with?? been looking into driving lessons for my daughter as she is asking me to teach her to drive in my car, no chance of that so i thought i better sort some driving lessons.
I’ve booked with LDC out of Pontefract but I do believe they have instructors all over the place including Selby. I know they’re a good training company as a few of my mates have gone with them and passed first time! And with what I want to do as a career the woman I spoke too was more than understanding as to why I need to pass my test first time and as soon as possible.

Thanks jonny, good luck fella and hope it all goes well for you
Good stuff but one point, passing first time isn’t important. Well unless from a time point of view if you wanted to start doing you LGV training as soon as you passed car bout otherwise passing first time is nice but not essential
That’s the main reason for wanting to pass first time luke, so I can go straight onto LGV training as even though everyone keeps telling me how there’s no money in truck driving and it’s all a waste of time most seem oblivious to the fact money doesn’t concern me when I’ll be doing what I’ve wanted to do since I was a little lad and that’s enough to make me happy
So wasting no time very much does come to mind but taking my time also to minimize mistakes Although I’m sure I’ll make plenty
Well first lesson is booked! Due to work an dhow much of it I cannot start lessons up until end of this month. First lesson is on the 28th April at 9:00am with my driving instructor paul so although I doubt it’s going to be too entertaining I’m sure I’ll sort of scrape a diary or something out of it
Thank you folks It may not be as interesting as the truck diaries but I’ll try make it fun some what! Can’t wait to finally get on the road, one step closer to where I want to be
