Taking the agency gamble

Well I’m taking the gamble to go and work for an agency. I had an interview for a full time job accepted it, handed my notice in at current full time job. However decided I don’t want the new job or this one so I’ve kept my notice handed in and starting with an agency. However I am in a fairly lucky position I have no mortgage and no kids of my own that need supporting so my monthly bills are relatively low. So I will see what happens.

Don’t forget the lidl bag, and practice sleeping with your Bluetooth in your ear. Happy limping

I have one better i have a netto bag lol

I did agency for 14 years , and enjoyed most of it… a couple of clients always asked for me, instead of their own drivers, when they had “first time jobs”…
I could travel an hour to some jobs , but got fuel expenses…
I was also guaranteed 40 hours and got holiday pay as well…
That was a good agency… not like some of the horror stories.
but I have now moved onto a full time job nearer to home… (4 miles)
regular start time, no weekends, no bank hols and a good long break at christmas.

Nearly the same after 10.5 years but no guarantee. I now will also get 10 days off at crimbo.

I see a theme, agency lifers moving into full time.

…Must not forget that this is a two-way street… Full timers DO go back to Agency as well. Full time jobs have some serious disadvantages at times, that agencies get one around.
“Being paid to commute” and “getting paid for all the hours you work” are two of them.

It will be either the worst thing I’ve done or the best thing I’ve done put it that way

I know that in real terms there is no such thing as job security today, but I would never trust any agency enough to jack a relatively secure full time job, to work for them, …no matter how good the hourly rate ‘promised’ was.

Good luck Baldy! Did the agency gamble myself a few months back. Got sick of dragging the job out and stealing all the full timers cleaning materials for Xmas gifts for Mrs B.

(Don’t forget from now on when you post, you need to mention that it ’ suits your circumstances ’ and that you earn £1000 a week).

I was a FT employee for 15 years with a company, I’ve been doing agency for a year now & im ready to go back to being a full time employee I’ve missed chat with colleagues as an agency always on the outside even though most of the places I’ve worked have been welcoming, some not so.

Well I’ll give it a try if it doesn’t work I’ll go back full time simples

Ok fair enough, but you MUST remember to wear your hi viz when driving (fully fastened of course) hands on wheel strictly at 10 to 2 (gripping wheel until knuckles are white) seat rigidly vertical (no slouching) and nose as close to windscreen as possible, It’s actually the law as an agency driver :bulb: … non of these slovenly full time driver habits any more pal.

And remember, now you’ve got the flexibility to choose to work at 1am Sunday morning

Not true, that rule doesn’t apply when wearing a Hi-Viz sleeved polo shirt or sweatshirt!
Keep up pal!

Yeh, they are only for the agency types on here that boast about clearing a grand a week.

A lad I know starts at those times on a weekend, when I ask him why he says ‘‘Yeh they’re good with me, they SAVE those shifts for me especially’’ (like they’re doing him a favour)
He’s a cracking spot on lad, but I do laugh to myself when he comes out with that one.
