Taking breaks on the hard shoulder..STOP IT!

nick2008:
but if the vehicle had broken down the hazard is the traffic stopping next to the vehicle they should ensure that there is a route past the haz on the HS

I did exactly that last week on the M1S 26-25 only for 6 cars to fill the gap :unamused: (lorry fire on other side)

Yep, got to be the foreign drivers…
Got stuck on M6 south yesterday for the tanker on Thelwall, 4 drivers on the HS, 1 Italian and 3 English trucks. All really helped the recovery truck trying to get to the crash.
As other have said, nothing to do with billy big ball, more to do with common sense and ability.
If you think that stopping on the hard shoulder is about big balls then you’re a muppet who needs to retire ASAP and stop being an embarrassment to the industry…

refer to my post 3 up

Refer you to the fact the Italian had been alongside me when slow moving and had mentioned it must be an accident ,due to him being LHD and me having my window open, when I said yes, and that it was 2 junctions down he promptly pulled in from lane 2 to the hard shoulder and stopped. Oh, and the others did not have hazards on either and one was reading the paper, guess they must have forgot to light up in the panic due to their emergency??
It’s always tragic to find people who will find the lamest reason to excuse the moronic behaviour of the few, keep it up chap.
Hope you are happy giving them the excuse to be stupid? Apologists are so much worse than the problem…

Why doesn’t there seem to be anywhere near enough enforcement going on with regards to johnny foreigners parking on the far side of the underbridge walls FOR THE WHOLE NIGHT? :imp:

If we home-growns even tried to take a 45 doing that - we’d get fined I’m sure. :frowning:

car drivers no kin sense just like keeping a junction clear just to have a Muppett fill that gap

I see car drivers do that all the time, I call them divebombers.
There is nothing in front of me, not much behind me, then a car comes up in lane two to divebomb in front in lane one so they can exit the motorway, forcing me to slow down as they dab the brakes ready to slip off.

Worst place for this is the bridges around the top of the M25. Every one has a foreigner under them on a 45 or worse, a night out.

About time we were as hard on them as the euro enforcers. ■■■■ their pockets so we can have cheaper diesel

I can’t say I want to be rummaging around in anyone’s pockets too hard up to park somewhere that we’re allowed to park… :open_mouth:

I don’t subscribe to the excuse that they need to park on the hard shoulder to avoid big fines on the continent. These so called professionals should find somewhere safe to park. It’s highly unlikely that so many trucks are running out of time every single day and the only place they can stop is the hard shoulder. These cretins are using the hard shoulder as a regular place to stop and we should be doing something about it. If the Euro countries are issuing big fines then we should issue big fines for stopping on the hard shoulder.

Maybe then they’ll plan their day more carefully instead of stopping at 4h29m, wherever they may be.

We also have our own cretins using the hard shoulder as a car park whenever the motorway is shut even though our regs allow us to go over our hours in such circumstances. Too scared of an infringement from their gaffer :unamused:
