Taking boots off in cab

Concretejim:
Depends. Im currently driving long distances and living in my cab so my shoes live on the top step and i drive in my socks.

When im driving concrete mixer/tippers etc then my lace up steel toe caps stay on in the cab.

Be careful driving in socks. Could be a problem if you are involved in an accident. Not sure what the law is but it will be frowned upon by many.

Also check with insurance!!!

The funny thing is, i barely have to use my feet in my new T520. So i have to wear shoes but dont have to wear gloves?

I heard that it was illegal to drive without footwear, on the grounds of needing to be able to escape a potential problem or situation. But that is probably bollox, and I’ve never been arsed to check. And i’m still not arsed…

But still, I can’t see how it’s harder to run in barefeet, than in my high heels! :open_mouth:

I specifically have “insured to drive wearing socks and or flip flops”
on my policy

i am the kind of guy that would spread excrement over your steps just to give you a reason for doing something about your boots after you trod in it.

i am never ceased to be amazed at the new breed of drivers, in another thread some thick bugger has just posted asking the question if the current relaxing of drivers hours applies to those who are not stuck trying to make a crossing to France etc ■■? just how the hell can the guy not work that one out himself is beyond me

now its a boot off type of driver to drive the truck.

to many namby pamby people in the driving game these days, before long there going to insist on having a shower fitted before they get in the cab and a cleaner to come around and hover daily before they start work

Wouldn’t mind if a cleaner came to hover around for a wee while , beats hoovering

No never, hardly a big effort to shake the rubber mat every so often.

Bach home:
Gonads in boxers all day = sweat
Sweat = unhygienic
Unhygienic = smelly gonads

Conclusion = spend part of day without skids on lol

I’m not fat so I don’t have overactive sweat glands.

Nor me I just have very vigorous sperm!

My boots stay on during the day. Same as when I worked in a warehouse, or when I worked in the bookies I had my shoes on. Never heard of any other job where working men take their footwear off :open_mouth:
If i’m driving for a few hours, I might undo my laces for more comfort, but that’s it. When I am working behind the wheel I wear work gear, when I move around the cab - I leave them in the footwell.
As has been said - what a dumb conversation. And I just fell for it! Bugger!!

Each of our units are used by about 14 different drivers per week, so not a chance.

Too many old timers making newbies run bent too.health and safety

talking of fattys its really no wonder they chose to drive hgv as lets be honest they need a large vehicle for themselves to fit in

but sure as eggs are eggs you pull into any truck stop all over the land and you will soon see a very large belly with a head on it sitting down to there fry up

at least some things will never change in driving and the good old fat barsteward will still be king of the road.

i dont think those over eater guys would wear slippers instead of boots they are at least real drivers. long live the fatty in my book unless of course they do wear slippers instead of boots then there just nancy boys in stockings

Love my slippers. Present from the kids-very comfy.

As regards being a proper trucker Pete, I’ve just checked my payslip and there is no mention of testosterone or manliness anywhere.

I have also had a careful check of my DCPC card. No mention there either. Come to think of it…if you do not have your card, you cannot drive a truck professionally.

So being as you are basically a nobody, why are you getting involved in discussions on TNET’S pro drivers forum?

I realise that it is a different Pete you are referring to but I hadn’t thought of it like that! :open_mouth: Maybe I had better ‘■■■■ out’ of modern topics as well since I no longer drive for a living and leave it to you lads that do!

Pete.

Would love to see the policy where it says you must have your shoes on when driving. Frowned upon by who.

rac.co.uk/community/blog/rac … it-illegal

Proof if it was needed that you are indeed a Bull ■■■■ Merchant.

From what I have seen Pete,(windrush), YOU are not deliberately offensive to folk on here.

I don’t see the point of an ex driver trying to rile current drivers.( other ’ Pete ').
