So I’ve got 2.25m height allowance, but once I put the bikes on the roof it’s going to put it over I think. I’ve not actually measured it precisely yet as I’m awaiting the foot pack for the bike rack to enable it to be fitted to my new car. Are they really fussy about an inch or two over?
I went in the car last yr ,it was very tight ,a really low deck ,and I waited ages as I expected to get my door dented by some moron next to me .
Title should read overheight

Hmmm maybe I need to telephone the port authorities. No point ringing condor and speaking to a ■■■■ in a call centre who runs to the script of computer says no.
Problem solved. Port Authorities were really helpful and suggested laying in them on their side on the roof for the crossing. A blanket to protect the paintwork and a couple of ratchet straps and it’s job done. I should have thought of that.
If its like Brittany Ferries ,the height limit is 1.83 meters , I have not travelled on Condor Liberation but if its like Express and Vitesse it is very tight headroom on them , even 4x4,s cant go upstairs and are charged extra for over height. A good way to see if you are over height when arriving at Poole is on the check in booths there is a line painted around the check in booths at 1.83 meters, if the check in operator cant see the booth on the other side of the lane you are over height , the same applies to Brittany ferries check in .By the way its not a Hydrofoil

Is it not? It looks like the one I got from Weymouth.
Plenty of places to hire bike over there if it’s a problem. or get a bike rack that goes on the rear or your car . There is a restricted height deck . But they may stick you on the freight deck if you ask nicely . They may even allow you to ride the bikes on
Very limited head room for sure. If lying bikes on side for ferry crossing take a spanner/allen key to loosen handle bars, and turn them sideways. Do a dry run at home, and check height with a tape measure, you don`t wanna be playing about in a queue with the rain falling.
let all the air out of your tyres
Bluey Circles:
let all the air out of your tyres
And if still over height put a couple of bags of cement in the car, that`ll get the springs down a little more.
I can’t wait for the impending news pictures of a vehicle wedged under the doors causing mayhem
Slightly off topic it used to be a regular occurrence at Rutland water, where cars with bicycles on the roof rack would run into the hight barrier causing untold damage to the car and bicycles

Maybe cars with roof racks should have height markers fitted in them? They could easily be attached to the middle of the dashboard with a few nails.

Will do.
You could consider taking the ‘normal’ ferry instead.
The Condor Liberation has received numerous reports from passengers about the vessel’s rolling characteristics. Notably an incident on 18 May 2015 prompted in excess of 50 reports of ‘Corkscrewing’ in only two metre seas on its evening sailing from Guernsey to Poole. This included a video filmed on board at the time of the incident clearly showing Liberation listing heavily. Condor later reiterated the safety of the vessel noting the important difference between safety (and stability) and ride comfort.
Amid reports of ride problems and procedures for passenger embarkation (involving embarking via car desks for foot passengers), it was reported that the UK Maritime Agency would launch an investigation into the vessel’s suitability to operate in the waters of the English Channel. It was later claimed by Condor that the MCA would not be launching an investigation, and would instead “follow up this matter with the flag state and the owners, to address the concerns being raised” In the end, the Mca investigated the vessel.
Condor has so far has remained mainly quiet on the issues surrounding Condor Liberation. The Guernsey External Transport Group requested a meeting with Condor to discuss the ongoing safety concerns and punctuality of the new vessel, which concluded with the Head of the Transport Group, Deputy Kevin Stewart, advising the public to “stop putting the boot in on Condor”. Public outcry for this followed.

There should not be to much of a queue there at check in ,as Condor pulled out of Weymouth 3 years ago.

Good job I’m going from Poole then.
Ah, yes, the Condor.
Two local names for it. The Eternal Flame, cos it never goes out…and The Vomit Comet, if there’s any more than an eighteen inch swell.
Nothing like some hometown humour.
Mickey Mouse had a watch that was more reliable.
This reminds me of the episode of Not Going Out on BBC
