Well Mickeyblue, I am irish, dont think i would get into EDL. Started driving rigids 20yrs ago, left and set up small retail business 8yrs ago. Had to close it last week, as i hadnt drawn a wage from it for 2 yrs. My staff of 3 got paid every week. i found out my irish cat c (Class 2) licence has lapsed, had to do and passed cpc again, doing driving test monday week. This topic was just a thought i had this morning, not an original one i might add, but it is just that sometimes no matter how good a worker you are and no matter how often you knock on doors you can get a bit negative. it is purely an attempt to get things positive again. Companies want 2 yrs current experience, my experience was 8yrs ago so treated like a newbie at 46yrs of age.
Get used to people looking down at you when applying for jobs. I applied for a simple warehouse job and got turned away for not having “Experience”

To label them all as Taliban is also, I reckon, quite offensive. I am surprised that moderators have not taken a stance on this.

Personally I wouldn’t knock people for coming here to work but I’ll knock our government for allowing it on such a huge scale
Is it me or do others seem to struggle with the connection of Eastern Europeans and the word Taliban?
As far as I’m aware, most Eastern European countries are ex Soviet states which are in the main Orthodox Catholic, Taliban is an Islamic sect. Just reinforces the image of lorry drivers being ignorant biggoted idiots if you ask me.
i have a lot of mates that spout biggoted crap about the east europeans doing this and doing that.
they are the same ones that worked in germany because thatcher buggered up our ecconomy.

The comments on this thread don’t alter the fact that if immigration had not been allowed to get out of hand in the UK rates would not have fallen the way they have and there would be more jobs available for British workers…
