Also, how long do analogue tacho records need to be kept before disposing of them?

You should keep and carry with you any used charts for the current day plus 28 days, you then hand them to the transport operator who keeps them for at least 1 year, or 2 years if the charts are being used to track the drivers working time for the WTD.
Presumably by “disposing of them” you didn’t mean losing or binning them because lorry drivers would never do that … would they ? 
Cheers for that, I was thinking more from the point of view of an owner-driver & how long you’d be required to keep them. So I suppose 2 years is the answer.
