from January 1st you must be able to produce the current day plus the previous CALENDER 28 days charts/ printouts, plus smart card even if nothing on it, regardless of which type of tacho is installed.
handing charts back in is to be amended to 42 days SHORTLY.( doesn’t say when)
This means that you have to keep charts from Tuesday december 4th,
If your employer keeps charts in weekly batches then you should keep them from monday 3rd december.
On days were there was no need for a chart, i.e. rest days there is no need to produce a chart for this day.
We’ll soon be keeping them for the whole bloody year!

this is just getting stupid, new rules every other week 
from what i understand this is the final piece of legislation under EECregulation 561/2006 which replaces council reg 3820/85.
the final part of the post I put above re the time you have to hand in your charts is UK legislation and that is why it is not enforced at the same time.
But you’re right, there has been that many changes over the last couple of years my head is spinning
