Had my class 2 license now 7 months, only now my boss is getting me a Lorry. I work 8am till 4:30pm Monday to Friday and 8am till 12 on Saturdays.
I won’t be out in the truck my whole shift only when I need to collect material. I work in the yard the rest of the time.
So my question is, while I am working in the yard can I take the taco graph card out of the truck or do I have to leave it in on other work. If I have to leave it in on other work do I then have to keep going back to put the tachograph on break when it’s needed.
Thanks for any help in advance

Simple answer is you could do both.
Your time HAS to be recorded, but how you choose to do it is really up to you.
I too sometimes have days where I do a bit of both. If I know I’m going to be in the yard for an extended period of time, I take the card out, as I’m a forgetful so and so.
I just put the card back in when ready and record my work and breaks via a manual entry onto the card.
I would be the same, so it’s best I take the card or tachograph chart out and do it manually?

Yes I would say so.
Get a PDF instructions for the version of the Tacho head you have, and learn how to do the manual entries properly onto the card itself. It will save loads of bits of paper floating about the place with your hours on it.
We don’t have a Lorry yet so it could be a paper chart, but thank you for being so helpful
