Sorry but you’ve got that wrong.
As of January 1st you should be able to produce tachograph records for inspection for the current day plus the previous 28 days.
You now have 42 days to hand the charts in to your employer.

True that the law will be amended shortly but in the meantime we’re being allowed the 42 days to hand in the charts.

The time limit on handing disc in is only a UK requirement while the requirement on what discs to carry is an EU wide one.
Why can’t they just leave it alone ?

I have to say that I have got to be amongst the worst out there for handing tachos in. I tend to keep hold of them if no-one asks me to hand them in 
.
When I got stopped by VOSA last year on the A1 the bloke asked me for the past 21 days worth, or however many it is, and I had a devil of a job trying to pull them out from amongst the other 6 months worth I was carrying . It’s a good job I keep them in date order!!
