Bit different is the speedo also fails

If you mean the tachograph itself has completely stopped working, you can carry on and keep a manual record of your activities on a printout, if you can’t get to the printing paper use a notebook or whatever.
If you mean your driver card is faulty do a printout as soon as possible and another one at the end of the shift, continue to use the tachograph mode switch in the usual way and your activities will be recorded in the VU.
Don’t wait till you get back to the yard to report it, phone it in asap so arrangements can be made for repair.
I think the question was referring to the actual box, I did say printout but just wanted to check
