Tacho: Using the rest option end of day

Hi all. Just making sure this is ok to do as opposed to manual entry. When I get back to the yard end of the day, I tend to just park up, hand keys in and go home. Next time I go in I will do my checks on other work option. If I select rest before taking my card out and when I put it back in, select other work for checks etc. is this ok?

Ta.

The tacho assumes rest when you eject your card no matter what mode you left it on.

Not all of them I used to drive one that unless you put it on rest for about a minute you was on work all night

Thanks mate. Just wondering as when I took my card out Monday Started at 06.21, I did a printout end of day and it shows the ? symbol next to a reading of 00.00 06H21 as opposed to the rest symbol.

That’s what I did end of day yesterday mate, put it on rest for a couple of minutes so I’m hoping next time I put it in I don’t have to do a manual entry.

What I do, is, put on break, then eject, in morning, if you have nothing to add as manual work, ie paperwork or check round or anything else, when it flashes “manual entry?”? I just push the ok button 7 times, that is a manual entry, never had any problems with it since 2011, works for me. If you have manual work such as handing in paperwork after ejectin, you will have to enter it as a manual entry, but try as I said above, that’s for a newish tacho on a 64 plate Daf, siemens, don’t know about Stoneridge.

Thanks mate, will try that

Do you do absolutely no other work at all once you have removed the card because if you do then that needs recording manually the next time you insert the card

Once the card has been removed it matters not what the vehicle unit records because you have finished using it

Nothing mate, I’m agency and when I get out the cab, the lads in the yard deal with loads etc. I just walk from cab to office, keys on the table and go home. Doesn’t seem worth fannying about for a manual entry for that.

Some companies have rulles. At the start of shift first must enter correct finish time for last shift and enter correct start time.
