in the depot i am in at the moment we have had the problem of some people running out of hours while tipping the load , but although there out of hours have still left sit to park up litrally 50 yards down the road in the layby as there not allowed to stay on site , here is my question when they leave site they stay at about 1-2mph till they get to the layby why is this ■■ doe the tacho not click onto drive or something ?

There is no logical reason for it. I’d guess they hope the slow drive may not show up as driving or something and they may try to say if questioned that they where moving on site slowly. Just a guess.
I always thought that the tacho recorded any driving no matter how low the speed ■■
I would say that is they run out of duty hours then they go onto rest and don’t move - that’ll sort out any future issues or notice that their time is almost up - secure what load is still on the truck and pull out to park up - return after the rest has been taken to finish off
not allowed to park up outside loaded on our depot but they are allowed to drop the trailer on site due to them been very high value loads , some do un hitch and park outside i was just wondering why the others do that .

Maybe so the magnet doesent fall off
why do they wait until they run out of hours to drop trailer and pull out why dont they drop it with 15 mins left and pull out legally.

I am sure if you could give a hint as to where that is, then VOSA will come and have a quiet word with them and explain the error of their ways, they do not really need to waste their resources like that, as anyone foolish enough to continue doing this may well be having tea with the “Sisters” Bell
Yes 50 yds will mark the tachograph record at any speed, even in reverse
Proctor & Gamble I presume
yeah we get that too.where drivers wait until their out of hours whilst loading, then decide to put the tacho on rest… si said to one of them, how can you rest with the trailer bouncing up and down with the forkie running in and out…dont know he said…but at least i can pull out at 5am in the morning…oh well some you can educate…some you cant…
