Tacho question

So I’ve just finished for my 3 days off. Got back to the yard. Did what I needed to do fuel up etc.
Pulled my card out and off to the office.
Another driver was waiting for the truck. He came back to me and said I shouldn’t pull my card out on the crosshammers symbol because it won’t register as my rest period whilst I’m not at work.
Is that right?
I’ve been pulling my card out on other work since I started 7 week ago and just doing a manual entry on the Sunday when I go back to work.
Thank you

If you’re doing manual entries there won’t be an issue.

^ This, if you do manual entries it won’t matter what mode the tachograph was on when the card was ejected because you’re going to set it to whatever you want anyway.

I thought so. Thank you.

Agree with the above. Manual entry is key. I think your other driver needs to think that when you walk to the office to debrief that would still need to be recorded as other work. Is he just sticking it on rest and then pulling card?
For example

17:47 pull card

Next day on manual entries change thw date then,

17:47 - 18:00 cross hammers
18:00 - 5:00 rest
