Tacho question

The tacho changes to driving mode as soon as you start moving but is it the same when you stop at say traffic lights or is there a delay before it switches to other work?
I was going to use the truck timer app but if i have to keep switching modes every time i stop for a few seconds i won’t bother with it.

Thanks

A tachograph will change to other work a few seconds after the vehicle stops moving, on type 2 digital tachographs the minute in which the vehicle stops moving will be recorded as whichever activity has taken up the greater part of the minute.

I believe the Truck Timer app can be set to how long it waits to change the activity when the vehicle stops moving, but I could be wrong

Thanks for that.

You can change the app time to one minute before it switches modes but this only works if the gps is enabled. I tested it whilst out and about and found the gps signal was not reliable enough to acurrately record the time driving or other work. Shame really.

I found trucker timer to be reasonably accurate down to a few minutes compared to a tacho printout in my experience. Maybe it’s the particular phone your using that has a problem with its GPS?

The phone I’ve got it on is a bit pants tbh. I have an lg something or other so I’ll try it out on that.
Thanks for the info.

Maybe the GPS signal doesn’t vary much in your yard mate!

The big grey cloud that constantly hangs over the building stops any GPS signal that’s why half of our drivers struggle finding their way out of the yard let alone finding a trailer number unless it jumps out in front of them.
