Tacho Question

Got a Newbie question and clarification… when the clocks go forward by later this month do all entries have to be in UTC…or have they changed this at all

So If I was to start work 8am BST, you actually would enter into the tacho start time is 7am UTC… then at the end of the day you finish at 6pm but the input would be 5pm end of shift…

Tbh it doesn’t even matter if you don’t change the local time as the tacho only records in UTC anyway. Local time is only changed for your own benefit.

Records must show without gaps so no point in doing manual entry for the same time a what the tacho has recorded then leaving a gap in those records

All manual entries must be in UTC.

With version 1 Siemens/VDO tachos you have to remember to knock an hour off what your watch says and enter the UTC time

With version 2 Siemens/VDO tacho (about 2012 onwards) allows manual entries in local time and it converts it to UTC as long as the ‘offset’ is correct - which means as long as you have put the local clock (display clock) forward 1 hour for summer time.

If you have the latest VDO - without the driver card in - press the down arrow 3 times and you will see the UTC time on the left and the offset on the right. If it says +01h00 then input in local time. If it says 00h00 then input in UTC

If you have a Stoneridge - bad luck.

Thanks for the comeback guys
