Tacho question regarding a company's induction procedure

This question was taken off Linkedin, The transport Managers forum and was asked in connection with a company’s induction procedure.

Start work 6am. 30 mins other work. Drive for 2hrs. Loading 30 mins. Then start a long journey that will take 4hrs+. What is the latest time you must stop for a break & how much break MUST you have?

12 noon, at least 15 mins break.
11.30am, at least 45 mins break.
12 noon, at least 30 mins break.
11.30am, at least 30 mins break.

I will post their answer which they nearly all agreed on a bit later, but they did say that the question should have had a bit more info regarding whether or not the driver loaded the vehicle.

JJSL

Assuming that the driver was working during the loading.

11:30, must have a break of at-least 45 minutes.
