i dont know how to ‘quote’.to wheel nut:regards print outs you get mixed imformation.in vosa book it says you need prints for all mixed driving shifts.i was also told this on my cpc course.but now im told you dont need them.even vosa have told me that now.rules change.another example ive come across since ive been training:you can take 3 reduced dailey rest peroids i was taught, also it says this in vosa book(09).now im told its changed to 2 reduced peroids.hard to keep up!

Not changed so much and it is today’s rules that count not some that you have heard about in the past. From Rog’s favourite GV 262 this is the piece that seems to be confusing you.

During a week in which the in-scope driving has taken place, any previous work (including out-of-scope driving since the last weekly rest period), would have to be recorded as “other work” on a tachograph chart, printout or a manual entry using the manual input facility of a digital tachograph, or a legally required GB domestic record on a log book

As Geebee said on another post you would not make a written entry on the reverse of an analogue chart to record digital work. (That would be a false record) If you are pulled into a control and the operator doesn’t have the equipment or cannot read your digital card that is not your problem, as long as you are carrying it whether you have used it or not.

You also seem to be confusing the rest periods, you could and still can take three (3) reduced (9 hour) daily rest periods between two weekly rest periods, the change you refer to means that now there is no compensation required for this reduction.

Work Rest and Play = 13 is counted as a regular rest period

Work Rest and Play = 13.10 is a reduced rest period

If you start at 6am, then by 6am the following day, ie 24 hours later you must have taken either;
11 hours regular rest
12 hours rest with a minimum unbroken period of 3 hours followed by 9 hours
or 9 hours rest if within your entitlement.

You can drive for 9 hours per day, except twice a week, you are allowed to extend this to 10 hours, whether you have driven for 9.02 or 9.58 you have used up one of your extended drives.

It is quite simple, I have made it difficult by explaining it this way, forget what you think you were told, read the forums, ask Rog, Delboy, Coffeeholic or Tachograph, they can put it across better than me. I am just a thick lorry driver :stuck_out_tongue:

if you care to look at the times of posting we were poss both posting at the same time Mr Perfect

as you dont need to state the obvious to me thanks :wink:

im not certain about vosa book now.ill have to have a look.but to quote my recent course literature: ‘if you are driving a mixture of vehicles you will need a printout for evrey shift’ it goes on to say these print out are to be treated the same as the tacho charts.retained and handed in.

i was told by last employer reduced rest periods, between weekley rest peroids, is now only twice a week.i was also told this by my uncle whos training to be a transport manager.make of it what you will :confused:

That sounds about right, most training courses contain two or three examples of complete bullcrap and this one seems no different. That course was obviously not worth a carrot and you should treat everything they told you with scepticism until you check it out for your self by reading the regulations. You might as well bin the literature they gave you as well, it could land you in trouble. You do not need a printout unless you need to explain a deviation from the regulations or your digi card is faulty, lost or stolen. That’s the only times regardless of whether you are driving just digi vehicles or a mixture of digi and analogue.

Your last employer is an idiot and it sounds like your Uncle is already well qualified to be a transport manager as he seems to be pulling regulations from his ■■■. :wink:

There have been no changes to the Driver’s Hours Rules since April 2007 and there are none due any time soon so you don’t need to worry about keeping up with changes
