Tacho mode when in a drivers room?

ex_reme_mech:
Here’s how I see it.

When I have backed onto the bay I have to leave the mode on cross hammers as going into reception, handing in keys etc is work.

Now I go into the waiting room and as has already been said I choose to have a kip - therefore i want to record break, but of course my tacho has been left on cross hammers and by rights I shouldn’t be going back to my vehicle.

So … having read the GV262 it tells me when working away from my vehicle or unable to oprate the recording equipment I can remove my card and carry out a manual input once the recording equipment becomes available again.

So … I back on the bay, select cross hammers and remove my card. I make a ‘note’ of the time I finish booking in and start my break, I make a note of the time my break finishes and work begins again. When I get back to the vehicle I manually input these to fill the time from when my card was withdrawn. My record is now complete and perfectly accurate.

As far as I can see no offence has been committed.

If I was on analogue - I’d remove the chart and manually complete it on the back as I go … then back into the tacho when I am back in the vehicle.

What d’ya think?

Sure thats fine but sounds a bit of a faff to me.

Just doing anything with the tacho I would consider other work so back on to bay, tacho on other work for two minutes whilst I do a quick check just to take a look at the wheels and check for excessive heat as I’ve been on a long run I know the tell tale signs of wheel bearing, brake problems.

Back to cab grab paperwork select break and skip off to waiting room for a kip, skipping is part of my exclusive recuperation (gets the old blood flowing etc).

hmm you’ll get talked about Dipper :sunglasses:

Not for the first time
The skipping distracts other drivers from the crap reversing they’ve just witnessed.

I wonder though if we all skipped off to waiting rooms would the RDC’s think we where having far too much fun and change the rules so we had to stay in our cabs.

Probably just erect a bus shelter type thing outside the main gate.
