Some advice here neededd guys. We,ve just had a tacho scanner machine installed in the traffic office, but its only registering driving when the wheels are turning. So when drivers put their time sheets in with say 8 hours drive on for a certain day, after all the delays in a days work, traffic etc,it has been saying that only 7.5 hours have been driven,i was lead to believe that if you are behind the wheel, engine on,in traffic etc you are driving, this is ■■■■■■■■■ driving.
It’s a machine, it doesn’t have a brain, the operator is supposed to supply that element.
If you are paid only on your driving hours, do something about it.
If your paid from days start to days end (less your 45 minute break ), don’t let it worry you.
Go by your calculations, that way you’ll keep your nose clean.
Your definition is the correct one.
Tachographs both digital and traditional do only record when the wheels are turning as they are ‘automatic’. In the old days the tachograph could be set on drive, but the problem with that type was if you forgot to change the mode when you weren’t driving, so the automatic was born.
