Tacho exempt on a Friday (if homebound)

Why is this not possible, on the last day of your working week you are tacho exempt if on your way back to the depot with no other work remaining.

Would take alot of stress out of Fridays trying to get home, would also end alot of the ‘footdown Friday’ funky driving manouvers you see lorries doing all the time.

I’m sure as you’ve all probably realised by now I’m stuck in a layby as I don’t have the drive time to get back tonight, definitely not extremely bitter about it…honest [emoji1]

Because, as with many rules, not doing so protects drivers from their own stupidity and/or unscrupulous employers. Were it allowed then you would have the usual heroes running 20+ hours ‘just to get home’.

Because most companies would have you work or drive a 24 hour shift

Transport manager…

Just pop to hull, then avonmouth, then Plymouth before you come back to Gloucester on your way home will ya…

Saddens me that the OPPOSITION can’t see the glaring pitfalls.

3 days work in one day "on the way home " - what could possibly go wrong ?

Haha! I didn’t really think the idea through to much tbh. Just popped into my head whilst slowly watching my drive time deplete in traffic.

But I suppose in response, theres probably to many factors to make this work along with all the other regs.

Don’t we all get that sinking feeling when you realise you have to tell the missus you’re not pestering her this evening? [emoji23]

This is laughable
Just imagine how companies would use this to their advantage, drivers would be pushed to go the distance on Fridays and this rule would be abused so much you would end up working 20 or more hours on a Friday. We have a loophole in the laws here allowing us to go up to two hours over the limit once a week in adverse conditions or after unforeseen delays such as breakdowns or delayed by road closures etc and companies try and exploit this rule and make drivers work an extra 2 hours once a week.

Two ten hour driving days and the flexibility of three fifteen hour duty days is plenty already, imagine the shafting the planners would be doing with a total freebbie on the last duty day.

MickM

It would just get abused by all concerned and become this thing to the planners that they can plan you a twenty hour day on your last day because of a loop hole. Give in inch take a mile

I finshed at 13.45pm today. Enjoy you run back in saturday morning.

It’s all about saying NO! to your transport office
Especially on a Friday…and the last Friday of the school holidays at that.

Nothing wrong with planning the day so that you have at the very least an hour in hand for the usual Friday snarl ups.

The more you do the more they want…

You must be mental, if your planned for a job that won’t get you home on a Friday don’t do it.

Please don’t subscribe to the faceache HGV group it’s full of ■■■■■■

Foot down Friday is a myth perpetuated by ■■■■ heads.

Planners who struggle to do 8 hours will expect drivers to do 20 ■■ yea that will work out well …

Thank god schools go back next week

Put yer knickers back on ladies, it was obviously a tongue in cheek post from a guy frustrated with the Friday traffic. No puppies were harmed.

I thought everybody knew about “Friday rules”?
