Put disc in today and turned to hammers but nothing recorded

The two reasons I can think of are:

  1. Chart on the wrong side of the plastic flap, as far as I can remember the chart doesn’t always lie flat in some old tachographs.

  2. Wrong type of chart.

Try it with the chart on top of the flap, drive round the yard and see what happens, if that doesn’t work try two charts on top of each other, then drive round the yard and see what happens.

I’ve had them in the past where a chart was too thin for the needles to mark, using two charts solved the problem.

Well yes that would do it :smiley:

But the OP said he knows which way the chart goes in so I assumed that’s not the problem.

Cut the lad some slack, the last time he used a tachograph, it looked like this;

The easiest way to check if the unit is working and the card is in correctly is to place it where you think it should be and close the machine, flick it on other work and go and have a cup of tea, if it hasn’t marked anything at the time the clock says, try the other side of the copper strips, go for another cup of tea, if it still hasn’t marked anything turn it over and go for a ■■■■ :wink:

:smiley: Tachograph you were absolutely right. Disc lies on top of flap and now works perfectly. It doesn’t look as though its sitting right but its working and that’s what counts.
Thanks to all for your help and good wishes
