Many of you will kmow of my utter dislike of unions and my reluctance to give them any money but recent family events have made me question my own mortality. 
How does everyone insure against licence loss for medical reasons?
I know there are several companies offering this type of cover as well as the TGWU.
I already have unemployment and sickness insurance for my banking activities.

I am with URTU and they have such an insurance if the member wants it but I have not seen it generally available.
I have had this cover from the TGWU since it was first introduced. During the earlyl years 2or 3 insurance companies provided this cover to the Tand G but after receiving a lot more claims than they had calculated for , they refused to continue the cover. The Tand G then decided that the only way forward was to do it themselves and currently the scheme is in good shape , with some talk of it expanding.
Anyone who does decide to apply should bear in mind that the application form MUST be filled in fully and accurately, any information about previous injuries and illnesses etc MUST be notified.
Off the top of my head I think it is 60p per week, but paying by DD I am not certain that this is accurate.
