My 06 plate MAN uses fully synthetic oil and was just wondering if anyone could recommend a particular brand of oil or are they all pretty much the same? Also, does it have a detrimental effect on the performance if I were to put part synthetic or non synthetic oil in it? Cheers.
i,ve run both mine on good quality mineral oil for the last 3yrs {2007 and 2005} with no ill effects at all. they also seem to consume less oil than they did running on synthetic, obviously i just change it more often
What emissions system does it have? EGR or fancy pants catalyst in the exhaust?
We find that regular oil changes with a modest priced oils are far better in the long run than expensive extended life oils.
We use Ultra 15/40 semi-synth in most of our stuff.
As long as the specification is correct. Some engines with DPF emissions systems must have low ash oil or the filter gets choked up quicker than it should.
