We went to Interlaken last August but pre booked it through the caravan club and our site was pretty busy but there are loads of sites around to choose from some more rustic than others, it’s a cracking area though with plenty to keep you occupied and the bus and train service is superb with everything running on time.

Go for it I towed the wobbler down overnight through Belgium, Lux and down East side of France where there’s hardly any tolls and arrived mid afternoon.

As BB has said, drive down over night, less stress hassle, no police checks, the engine runs cooler.
All food stops are open 24 hours in Europe.
Less chance of road works, accidents and delays or diversions, arrive relaxed then have a sleep.
Drive no more than two hours then take a break, have a walk to get the blood pumping.
Warning , the coffee in France is like ditch water, the same brand nation wide.
If you ask for milk in it, they react as you have raped their Granny.
They cooked steaks with blood left in the middle, bien cuit is well cooked, and horse meat is popular, and you won’t notice it is horse meat.
Unless the tail is sticking out.

Thanks for replying ,iam thinking of stopping one night at Esch sur sure ,one at colmar ,then interlaken ,and same on way back ,the Mrs & kids aren’t keen on my one hit none stop trips .whens the interlaken truck show ?

Was a long while ago but I went climbing in Zermatt and we turned up on spec at a campsite in Tasch and no problems, its as far as you can drive to Zermatt as no motors allowed in the town.

End of June for the truck show, you’ll have to do the Jungfrau it’s a long day and expensive but worth it and drive the Grimsel and Furka passes and a trip on the lake.

If your looking at the Interlaken area, have a look at camping-jungfrau.ch in lauterbrunnen .Camped there in 2003, Ive no experience of motorhomes or caravans in Europe but ive camped all over and never booked once.
