Switched live MAN TGX

Hi, I’m trying to connect a dash cam to a 2012 MAN TGX. I’ve found many potential connections but they’re all permanent live, I want s switched live so that it only records when the ignition is on and I don’t want to risk forgetting to plug it in every time I start the engine. Can anyone help?

Many thanks,

Steve

If you have already bought your dash cam then this probably won’t help but if you buy one with ‘park mode’ then they use a permanent live feed but only use minimal power when the vehicle is stationary. I have one in the car (‘Osser’ is the brand) and it is left for 3-4 days at a time without affecting the battery.

Yes I have already got the camera, my worry was that it records sound as well and didn’t want it recording private conversations whilst on break etc.

If you get a fuse tap you can take a live off the trailer abs light

To switch audio off, go into the settings, or rtfm.
For ign live,try the radio.

Thanks for the rtfm advice biggriffin, that has really helped, I would never have thought to do that! I posted a simple question about looking for a switched live feed and you chose to troll me, nice work.

Thanks boyesadabest that’s a good idea, I’ll grab that feed.

Steve,

I’m seeing a potential misunderstanding here…

You didn’t say which type of dashcam you got, nor did you mention whether you’d read the manual for it.

It’s possible that the answer is in the manual or in ‘settings’ on the device.

IMHO, once you’ve considered the above as question #1, the question of a switched/permanent live might become question #2.

Think falcon Steve needs a safe place if he thinks that’s trolling .

Can’t wait to see his footage and hear him shouting ‘it’s on camera’ 20 tines a day.

I think your right I need a safe place alright. I thought my original question was pretty straight forward, the comment about the reasons was not relevant to the question but I gave a polite and respectful answer.

I have resolved the connection issue now thanks to the one response that actually helped.

Use a Euro socket (passenger side footwell) with a 1/2/3 car socket type thing and plug dash cam into that I’m sure they are switched ■■

They are permanent live too.

Be honest, you dont want it recording you signing out of tune like a cat with its tail trapped in a door incase thats the moment you need to use the footage of an accident.
The reason I know this is because thats my reason for wanting the audio off!
