The old warehouse that Swindells have been taken down now and there is nothing left , even the 3 hangers Great Bear had have gone . I don,t know whats going to happen to that are but when i went back to the UK in 2012 the had flatted everything on what was the depot

what happened to them - did they go bust? I’m sure they had a magnum as well as the volvo’s later on

the man went bust i worked for him for the best part of 5years tramping all over uk and Europe he was a great guy he started back up driving as owner driver had 3 or 4 trucks he now lives in Tenerife as far as i know his son has a warehouse in Trafford park as far as i know

Didn’t they park behind the old cafe on the A580 for a while ?

What was their warehouse (Hanger No 7 I think) was flattened some time ago and there was some protest over the demolition from the old US Airforce enthusiasts on the RAF Burtonwood site. It now forms part of the Omega development and the first building has been completed for Brake Brothers. Soon to follow are Travis Perkins and (allegedly) Asda. There is also talk of a new football stadium to be built in the future to give a new home to Warrington Town (a non league side, with aspirations of things higher!) I seem to recall Brian Swindell had a nice house near to Birchwood golf club and an old workmate of mine, who drove for him for a good while, reckoned a couple of years back that he was contemplating starting up again - but it didn’t happen to my knowledge.

My dad worked for a firm called jld haulage in irlam doing italy! Brian swindles used to sub for them in his magnum till about 2002! I was with Me dad when i was a pup, he ran out of fuel in Luxembourg once and Brian swindles came and pulled him out the s…t!

I used to see one of theirs sometimes off loading at the Bradford Press in Hallings Bradford, This was 80/90s They had a Volvo Unit on the job , A local motor only , Because one night it had a problem with the lift pump & Volvos fitter came out to get it going, The driver didn’t have any bait with him so I made him a brew & shared my jam & bread sarnies, & chocky biscuits It was a real wet & cold night, I wonder if this driver is still about & remembers the event, Regards Larry.
