Changing from truck to truck is no biggie for me but so far the biggest difficulties I have found are usually in getting back into my car:
Forgetting to take the handbrake off in the car - I’m guessing this is because I’m used to finding it in front of me now
Keep using wrong stalk for indicators - setting off my wipers instead (how annoying is that!)
Getting too used to having horn at the end of the stalk - couldn’t find my car horn at all yesterday!
Trying to set off in 3rd… I’ve actually had complete blanks after long day when it can take me a few mins to remember how to drive a car
For Gods sake stay off the push bike … on second thoughts get on the push bike with luck you’ll stay in the same position not knowing which peddle does what

I reckon it’s all simply cause I really just want to take the trucks home!

My tip for this is that once you’ve moved back into the car…
…just spend a minute or two to ‘settle in’ and think about what you’re about to do.
More haste = less speed.
There are those who would make sexist type comments about your post, but not me because I’ve done exactly the same thing myself.
A pause for thought before setting off for home in the car always did the trick for me.

Think we’ve all done it at some point even in the reverse manoeuvre
I’m lucky that most of the controls in my truck are the same in my car. I do find that I go for the handbrake and end up just hovering my hand over the air vents until I realise what I’m doing…

Excellent!!
I think dieseldave is right, a few moments to remember where we are is what’s needed.
nick2008 I’d forgotten reverse, yes I do try to find reverse at far left in the car when obviously I won’t find it there!
Conversely I often get out of the truck and wander off only to start worrying whether I’ve set the hand brake even though I know full well I have! (I think that’s just the thought of the sheer embarrassment if it rolled away - not not mention potential damage!)
When I was away all week with a auto , I would jump in the car Friday come to the first junction and forget I had to press the clutch
Gone back to a manual truck tho now
or you find you take a lot of room to go round the rbt cos you think you still have the trailer on the back , my hubby is always saying how much room do u need!! (but thats another story)
