I’ve been asked if I want to work the sun 21 st and have Boxing Day off ,now that sounds ok but I was told today if you work any overtime / extra shifts there now back paying £50 per shift bonus .
I said I’d swap days ,work the Sunday and have Boxing Day off but as Sunday wasn’t one of my rota days( extra shift ) I want the extra £50 for doing it .
Bloke said I was being totally unreasonable ,and the offer was too swap days ,not swap days and get a bonus for doing it.
I said I’d stay as I was then ,then he started bleating that he didn’t think there was any work for me ,fair enough then I’ll have the Sunday off like normal and have Boxing Day off paid if he didn’t have any work .
He left the room

is exactly what I would do - typical attitude to “you do me a favour and I will do you one” , “yes but I want cream with it”
years ago the company worked for at the time did not close between the xmas and new year but there was nothing to do normally - so said to the lads earlier in the year if you want save some holidays and you don’t need to come in, some smart8ss’s thought they would take all holidays and get some extra for free - WRONG !! I was in anyway, and so were they - staring at the walls for 8 hours.
funny next year they saved the 3 days 
boxing day is a bank holiday and although they don’t have to give you it they usualy do as its the normal thing that all good employer’s do +if you do work it you get a day in lieu so tell him that and he will probably start crying

Well after telling us all year that nobody could have holidays in December - early jam they’ve now said I can have Boxing Day off as a holiday and can work the Sunday 21st as a extra shift / o/t and they will pay me the £50 bonus ,I’ve said thanks for the holiday but no thanks to the extra shift / o/t ,apparently there’s no pleasing some drivers

If he had work he wouldn’t give you Boxing Day off ,but he hasn’t so instead of giving you the day off paid he’s devised a scheme where he covers the Sunday which he’s struggling too get agency for ,and saving himself £50 bonus by saying you could swap days ,lots fell for it but others saw through it and asked for the bonus .
Now plan one didn’t work he’s come back with plan2 ,if I give them Boxing Day off a holiday they’ll feel they need too reciprocate the favour by working the Sunday for him ,so he will be able to cover the work he has no cover for at the moment ,but some saw that it wasntfavour in letting you have Boxing Day off but a devious plan too cover 21st workload ,so took his favour ,holiday Boxing Day ,and stuck two fingers up at his offer of a extra shift /o/t .
