I was thinking much the same thing - can you imagine what the ram-it-in-and-hope-for-the-best drivers would do to that?

Saw this strange susie set up on an artic today

we had drivers coming into a place I worked as a lad 40 yrs ago with suzzys set up like that … just not a common sight, It allows close couple with no chance of the trl snagging the lines etc. the guy’s that came in to us were mainly from the Swiss alps and it allowed as said tight turning with no damage to the lines.

…It was the fact that the lines were touching the tarmac & I thought they could snag on some road surfaces rather than the trailer ■■

I was just thinking that too, looking at those a good height bump between the tyres could rip the lot clean off?

My idea was always to do away with the curled Suzie lines but have them on an automatic rachet so they lengthened and shortened as needed, but wouldn’t hang down

It’s not a difficult job I know to connect . But is there not a European standard that the suzzys connect in a straight line rather than criss cross or is there a reason that they criss cross.

Considering the O/P’s username, when he says suzzys, does he mean SUZIES or is he referring to what holds his stockings up.
