Suzie Connectors

Hi i am driving a W&D and the red suzie connecter collar is full of grit/salt. Which makes it a pita to connect, plenty of rust too.

its getting worse through time, even though it gets washed at least once a week ,it used to be a doddle now i find myself pushing in with one hand whilst trying to pull collar out & twist with the other b4 i could just pop it in the collar would spring back & i would twist

I drop my drag 2/3 times a day, just wondering if you guys have any tips? Wd40, diesel

I would. Pull the collar back on the red air line, force the push home and the connection will “snap” be “made”.

Twist the collar so the Hole/Lump are not aligned. Subject to other checks then drive off.

Just give it a drop of engine oil now & again .

Thats what i am doing but when its made the collar does not want to pop back i have to pull the ■■■■■■ back and you can feel all the debris in there, i think it needs a good clean round the collar

If it is causing you concern and you feel, for whatever reason, that the situation needs further help then defect it. As far as I know it is law that a competent person sign it back to service. But at the end of the day it is a susie. Your firm must expect to replace susies on a regular basis.

I always dipped a nice clean rag into my Diesel tank and cleaned the Suzie and collar with that, worked well on Artics anyway.

I agree 100 % but in this modern age a young driver would not always know where things are.

The job is no longer!!

Remember dipping fuel tanks in the dark with anything you could get your hands on. Blade of grass was my favourite.
