I’m stuck on the m40 mile from a34 exit heading for didcot drive time wise I’m fine but my spread is up at 6 where do I stand with going over my time in the snow.
finished on 17th december.
you can, write on the back of your chart sufficient reason due to unforseen circumstances, or on a print, but just to get you off the road to a safe place. doesnt allow for you to finish a job off.
Cheers
Lights off, curtains closed and get yer head down we dont get paid for anything over our legal spread Dave so for me, i`ll not be doing it again
but just to get you off the road to a safe place.
Ah, the good old grey area!
What consitutes a “safe place”?
does a lay by constitute a safe place? It’s a matter of opinion.
Does safe refer to the driver, the vehicle or other road users?
I guess other road users are safe if you stop in the first lay by, but the vehicle may not be and the driver would only be safe if he had somewhere to get food and toilets etc.
the grey areas are the problem aren’t they i’m going to didcot where i know i can park and the chances of finding somewhere near oxford are very slim.

I had this on the M1 afew weeks ago (5hrs over time) I phoned plod and got an incident number to write on my card. You can do no more ,if VOSA decide to take it further at least you’ve got it recorded.
I went 10 minutes over a couple of weeks ago to get back to the yard as my Tom Tom said I’d make it although by that stage there were no suitable stopping places anyway. On Friday morning I was informed that if I went over again I’d be banned from site!
On Friday evening I brought the last drop back as it was borderline on my hours although they were at me to attempt it! Can’t have it both ways…
