Supossed Tiny Trucker?!?! hehe ;o)

i guess im lucky living at home with parents… cos i can afford to take the risk of the agency not having any work for me.

just have to keep my fingers in a few pies ;o)

I am not a silly little girl!!!.. or if i am you better whatch out for me on the road!

what did i ever do to you to make you be so mean?

Don’t you lot get enough grief from TM’s goods in …sec guards …■■■■■■ car drivers etc etc ,CHILL OUT FOLKS…   We are all truckers male female black white blue pink with dots on…

Remember there are only two types of people…Good and Bad

CHILL

Sorry i did’nt mean that as a snipe at you i’m just sick of people who can’t have a disscussion without dishing out threats. as i said before it dosent matter what or who you are we all have to do the same job it’s the way you go about it weather you get the help you require to learn the jobas i said we all got to start somewhere. You do it your way if it makes you happy.

OK Aidey fair enough tempers got flaired on my part, and it had nothing to do with the fact that i was trying to impress sara which some of you were suggesting, maybe cus some of you were bored, maybe cus some of you are sad, i dont know, if that was my game id of done it on her website, not here for you all to read !! I would stand by anybody if they had a valid point to put but all they were getting was abuse and sarky comments, Im getting ■■■■■■ off with some of the comments im reading because im pretty much in the same boat as sara, as you were once aswell, its hard enough getting started in this industry without being slated at every opportunaty
As coder0 said we are all the same, why pick out individual circumstances to have a dig at someone, its like playground bullying
so ill cool it, if you do, or just find something positive to say about what shes trying to do, its nice to be nice

if you guys and gals want a natter the chat room is based at the top of the pdf forum :sunglasses:

I work in an all male manufacturing environment and I’ve never had to prove myself (yeah I’m a girl by the way - long story about the Walrus thing). When the guys found out I was doing my cat C training they were really helpful and supportive. Ok so I got teased something rotten when I got my fork truck stuck in the mud one night last year and they remembered it when I told them about doing my cat C - women drivers and all that! But they have been great. We’re all different but we’re all about the same thing (I think anyway) -driving trucks, so you keep it up girlie trucker.

I must admit I was a bit concerned when I first saw your website - more from the point of view that it can be a bit risky out there on the roads and I was worried you were drawing unwanted ■■■■■■ attention to us female drivers. But then again it’s a free country and I look at men probably as much as men look at women. I gave a lot of attention to a blond hunk in an artic at work a few months ago so I can’t talk can I?!

And yes, I’m a short blonde too! And I’m looking for work…

girlie_trucker - if you are on with one agency and suffering for work then it is well worth signing on with a couple more. I am with three at the moment - although one has me working 5 days a week… all three offered me shifts this weekend - so things seem to be getting busier !!!

As for your reversing - don’t worry about it, first three months was the worst part… … I was taught two rules for blindside reversing:

  1. Avoid it at all costs.

  2. If in any doubt get out and look.

Haven’t hit anything yet anyway (thats blown it now - will hit something tomorrow).

The other thing that can help is, if you ever hear of any shunting work going then take it - can be hard work and lots of reversing, but you learn a lot and fast instead of reversing two or three times in a day it can be 60+… … Sorted my reversing out - I thought it would be rare to get but the guy that learnt with me and myself have both had quite a bit of work on the shunters… …

Good on ya Dr stuck in the mud, when you doin your training, you have got a good point about the safety of women drivers,it is a bad old world out there, maybe we should be posting some tips on here to help you girls keep safe out there at night on your own, might make this turn into usefull discussion after all  ill start with a couple.
Have 999 set as your last call dailed on your phone before you hit the sack
If you have your own regular truck that you do nights out in,invest in one of them gas attack alarms.
pretend you like baseball, thats why im carrying the bat with me officer  or a hammer that doubles up to check your wheelnuts

pretend you like baseball, thats why im carrying the bat with me officer or a hammer that doubles up to check your wheelnuts

Why bother with either? All our trucks came with a usfull wheel brace and tyre lever as standard.

people keep laughing at my reversing…

There is a sure fire way to stop this…
… run over their feet, they soon stop laughing then  :smiling_imp:

end up in my nice country house! hehe

With a top spec Scania Longliner on the drive

and are they the team that got held to a draw by the pub team from Gretna

Pub team my [zb] arse. My cousin plays right-back for them and has a Scottish FA cup loser’s medal to show for it!

He follows egg chasing so doesn’t understand.

Gretna are far from a pub team, they are a full time club who are going places. Smaller teams often hold bigger teams to a draw in cup matches, Burton Albion and Nuneaton Borough in the FA cup this season spring to mind. It was a good cup final without either of the ugly sisters present, no crowd segregation and no trouble and although we didn’t play well we went home with the cup, that’ll do for me. I don;t think it’s a double D cup by the way.

i know what you mean about drawing unwated attention when im out on my own… there is that risk… im prepared for it.

Sometimes you have to take risks… or we’d never get anthing done.

id say most lorry drivers are nice family men and look out for me… but i know there are some dodgy ones!.. so i guess all i can do is just be careful and if guys hassle me ill have to deal with it!

yeah have been on with a few agencies… but im ok just doing a few days a week at the moment… its so tiring doing something when you are new to it! just the concentration knackers me out!

someone sujested volunteering as a shunter for a bit… sounds like a good idea… but im scared of the dark… so ill be hiding in the tea room when its gets dark! im not walking around looking for trailers on my own in the dark!!

before i drove lorries… i wouldnt even drive on a dark country road by myself… then my first night lorry drving on my own i got lost on a weight limit country road!!! im such a wimp… but it soon got me used to it!.. yes i sleep with a night light and everything!

Some of them work in daylight as well !! Although if you see one that only comes out at night, had an odd forehead and long incisors then erm well run…

Your no blonde bimbo you know what your at I guess.

I used to look for oppurtunities to reverse rather than shy away from it what does not kill us makes us stronger if you get what I mean.

If I were to pick out to gems from all the advice I have had over the years

  1. Never reverse on yer blind side unless in emergency
  2. Take your time

Not so bad mate - hoping to get back out on the road in the near future, shunting is good for practice don’t want to do it permanently. Either way I am leaving in about 8 weeks anyway and heading to where the Haggis (or is that Haggi?) roam free… … … Then at least I can start looking for permanent work !!

Sorry to hear you have had no joy - take it you are registered at ProTemp & SMS ■■
