Sunderland Busways Bedford TK

I hope this is the right section to ask in but I’m trying to find a picture of a lorry my Dad drove back in the day, he was the yardman for Sunderland Busways, now Stagecoach, they had a Bedford TK rigid lorry which they pulled buses on a straight bar with until it was shortened and fitted with wreckers international recovery equipment, not long after the conversion it was stolen from the yard and was never seen again, although Bedford were still in business in those days was the theft and export of them as popular in the 80’s as now due to the demand for them in the third world? I tend to think it probably remained in this country, though where we’ll never know.

Do any of the north-east members remember it or even have a picture of it?

Yes i remember seeing the TK when delivering fuel to the depot, but can’t remember the depot it was as we done 2 depots in Sunderland, and all their yards in the north east ,vic.

Thanks for the reply. It would have originally been based at the Fullwell depot then moved over to the new Wheat sheaf depot in the town when it was built at a guess.

If you don’t have any luck on here you could try the North East Bus Preservation Trust website, somebody on there might be able to help.
