Sunday truckers beware - or support!

mag-uk.org/en/campaignsdetail/a6883

Beware of what? A dozen bikers in the services on a Sunday? Nowt different there then.

"Regulation that will see the introduction of compulsory ABS, the sealing of powertrains from the airbox, through the engine to the final drive (including the diameter and aspect ratio of the rear tyre), restrictions on the aftermarket industry, possible roadside checks by police or other government agencies to inspect emissions, detect owner ‘tuning’ and more.
There’s EU-funded development of electronics to control and govern speeds through warning systems or, ultimately, actual throttle control."

Any part of this you’re against?

Far be it from me to praise the EU, but because the motorbike industry and it’s users have failed to police themselves, the EU, and all it’s appalling bureaucracy, is about to descend on you as it has on us for years!

Yes…

Ever changed the oil on your car at home yourself? Ever changed spark plugs at home yourself? Ever put some alloys (and therefore different tyres) on your car?
So all the small workshop industries making replacement exhausts etc get to go out of business…

Yeah, because that really sounds sensible… Unless they do the same with cars… Imagine all the boy racers not being able to change their exhaust for a louder one, or put some nicer wheel on etc…

All because someone in Brussels was sat in a traffic jam, got passed by a motorbike, and promptly let teddy and pram part company…

Today I drove down the A1079 to Hull. 300 yards in front of me was a biker. His exhaust was so loud I could hear it over the car stereo even with all the windows shut. The last time I heard a car with an exhaust that loud was on a WRC rally stage in Wales or at a drag strip.

I wouldn’t even worry about it, the BMF and MAG are of the same use to bikers as the FTA and RHA are to Transport Operators.

As for loud exhausts, they are necessary to let clots know there is a motorbike in the vicinity, most of the time the clots cannot even look through their mirrors.

I’m very happy to see this. Not because i agree at all with it but because it will annoy and infuriate a lot of people. And as they [EU] go about doing it [making petty rules up] all the time in every walk of life, eventually everyone will of had enough and say bollox to that lot !!!

Why hasn’t someone idiot in Brussels decided that making bike riders have an amber flashing light fitted to the top of there helmets would make them more visible?

If it moves to cars forget all the boy racers. it could effect the normal motorist trying to keep thier car going. No fitting pattern parts, only manufacturers parts. That could be brake pads, exhausts, discs etc. Even tyres. Even banning cars over a certain age, I believe it was seriously proposed a few years back.

There i defiently a serious bunch in the EU who seem to hate trucks and bikes and spend many hours thinking of ways to retrict their use, they’d probably like to do the same for cars, but it’s a massive industry in the no doubt filling thier coffers.

What do ya mean IF.?
The regulations don’t specify a particular type of vehicle, so they mean all vehicles. (Its focused on bikes, so car drivers won’t realise till its too late that these reg’s are none specific. Once they’re in, they are in.)
Forget boy racers, how about custom car builders, beach buggy enthusiasts and every other motor enthusiast being barred from driving on public roads because their vehicle isn’t exactly as it was when it left the factory. That’s what you’re looking at here.

  1. You failed to read the whole of the item about the bikers protest.
At 1pm, thousands of bikers will leave hundreds of meeting points to proceed in a slow ride protest.

  2. It is of little interest to the motorcycle industry, in fact it will be in their favour.
Exactly the opposite to your argument.

3 You are clearly a trumpet.

So because of one bike, we should all happily put up with this?

OK, granted, it isn’t just one bike.
Neither is it just one boy racer.
But because of these minorities, every motorist has to suffer?
You will no longer be able to find a cheap exhaust for your car.
The costs to gain approval for a replacement exhaust system for your car, or bike or truck will push prices even higher.
Eminox stacks, or Sidewinders or any other aftermarket exhaust system which doesn’t comply with the original system emission specs will be outlawed too, noise is an emission.
