looks like the company has too much money to blow on yuppie ■■■■

Best thing was if you asked them where the place was in relation to your location they would more than often give some excuse that they did not know how to use it, no point in having it then ■■
I’ve experienced this.
the company i work for used the tracker to pay the wages. they cut hours like mad.
From reading the OP it doesn’t seem like a stupid tracker system as it’s providing the information. The problem seem to have more to do with the people using it, they seem to be unable to interpret the data,
Okey-Didley-Dokely:
What a ■■■■■■ joke, if they think that a computer programme can drive the ■■■■■■ thing better then tell them to get the ■■■■■■ computer to drive it.
But I’ll bet you try to raise your overall average, what is wrong with drivers, they want you to be PROFESSIONAL, then take the ■■■■ out of your PROFESSIONALISM with these systems.
Tell em EFF OFF
Nobody is saying the computer can drive the truck, it’s merely providing data about how it’s driven.
oops. incorrect post removed.
made me laugh when we first had them fitted as one of the TM’s told one driver ‘ah we can see everything you do from now on’ , to which the driver replied ha im not having that & if thats the case i’ll be pulling the curtains round on my breaks ?
another took his 8 wheeler into Flambards visitors park & had his own demolition derby with the flower beds & planters & swore it wasnt him even though the tracker showed he was the only one in the area & someone from flambards took his registration
another has had to stop going into tesco on friday afternoons to do his shopping as it records where you stop at , he’s most annoyed
the best i heard was from the chap that fitted my tracker, he went to do a repair for a hands free kit on a tipper & was confronted by NASA, the driver had covered the whole dash in tin foil even glued it onto the rocker switches , when asked why this was the driver repleid it was to stop the satelites getting the info from the tracker, the hands free man didn’t want to upset the driver by telling him the signal went via an ariel on the roof of the cab
We are on tracker but thankfully not one that tells them when you even stop for a pee, but they are in the processes of having the man telematics put on and that gives you the a-f score [zb]. Our gaffer has decided that once they all have it in he will put a sheet up on the wall so we can see how we are all doing, apparently he had to have dilligaf explained to him.
Sounds like a Microlise system thats being installed at many DHL locations including mine. It can help cut fuel by highlighting excessive idle times but we have found you can coax good grades out of it, but the fuel economy figures do not always increase. This is confusing and shows that the type of journey has more influence on the figures than the manner of driving. TM’s do not always get that theory and try and badger the driver by giving him daily de-briefs that serve only to get up everyones nose’s and have the opposite effect.
As for being paid by it, put your truck keys on the computer keyboard and tell the TM to get the computer to drive it if its so bloody clever. See how much work gets done then…
Vehicle tracking is another is just another tool for the job, used well by people who are properly trained and understand it it can provide benefits, but not used properly it can be all but useless.
The problem seems to be a familar one in Haulage. Spend thousands on a piece of kit, but don’t teach the operators to use it properly in this case the TM’s.
I’ve found being tracked has benefits, when you phone in to say you’ll be late for a delivery because of the motorway is closed or you’re still waiting to load, they can see straight away were you are and how long you’re been there. It proves you’re telling thr truth. And then if you have a decent, TM like the one I was working for last year, He re-plans to allow for the problem or makes a few phone calls to get you on your way.
the tracker system our company has taken onboard appears to be mainly highlighting the planners and managers shortcomings ( zbup’s !! )

This is a great positive really, as long as your getting on with the job which i’m sure most people do anyway there shouldn’t be a problem.
Why do so many people believe the hype and ■■■■■■■■ that management spout.
If a computer can drive a vehicle better bthan a human then get computer to drive it, telematics in my experience are only there to keep an eye on the driver and try and push as minutes as they can out of a drivers day, I’ve even had a TM ring me up asking why I’d stopped at a services, bec ause I needed the toilet I said, you should have got to your destination before you went to toilet, ■■■■ you I said and promptly took his load, his truck and myself back to home base.
Som all yous mugs who agree that telematics are a good thing, good luck and buy plenty of KY jelly your going to need it…
