Stroke/demolishing gates at store

Got to store today and where the gates are normally they’ve got cages, cones and barriers blocking the entrance, gates are big steel one and there nigh on bent in half and frame work is nearly ripped off walls :open_mouth: :open_mouth: ,its very tight going in so assumed a truck had hit it on way out,he’d left his parking brake of when ringing bell and truck had hit it.
But goods in lad said old chap in car had somehow hit his accelerator and just smashed into the gates bringing them down onto the car :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: ,said cops had checked and there was no skid marks at all,hit them full on :open_mouth: ,lad said old chap said he’d had a stroke a month earlier and shouldn’t be driving :open_mouth: :unamused:
So
1 do they take your license off you if you have a stroke, does doctor just say you can’t drive or is he just saying he shouldn’t be driving.
2 how would a stroke cause him to do what he did,hit the accelerator and not even brake before hitting those gates,
Just seeing the damage you would never think a car could do that too those gates, lucky to be alive, just makes you think if someone was about they’d be dead

I would say they do take your licence off you if you have a stroke. This thread is useless without pictures though. :stuck_out_tongue:

But only if taken from passenger seat or windscreen mount.

I don’t know about a stroke but a few years ago I suffered a spinal injury which affected my walking ( I couldn’t for 5 days). My doctor advised me that I had to let the DVLA know of the problems and they would have their medical people assess if I could keep my entitlement. The shocking thing was I could keep the car entitlement while the decision was being made but the vocational license was suspended until I could pass a medical and then, once returned, I was on annual medicals until I had improved to a level deemed acceptable to allow 5 yearly checks.

Poor old chap :frowning:, you can just imagine him stamping on the pedals for all he was worth

This seems to happen every year with old ladies in automatics and they end up careering through people’s gardens. I think doctors are reluctant to take peopl licences away.

the video shows that she is not old or ill so just an average everyday woman driver doing what they do which is beyond the understanding of men no matter what part of the world you come from

They all seem quite cool about it as well, as if it’s the way she normally parks

Why are police looking for skid marks when virtually every vehicle has ABS these days ? Surely the absence of skid marks shows nothing these days.
