Is your firm lenient when going over 45 minutes break or are they straight on the phone, asking what the problem is? Mine’s laid back, if the works done/will be done then no worries taking an hour et
We are told to take 50 min
As long as I’m where I’m suppose to be at the time I’m suppose to be there then they’re not bothered, in fact I had a 2 hour break today because I had plenty of time and still got to my collection half hour early.

Same for me. Long as the jobs done and the customers happy.
This could turn into another hourly rate versus fixed salery thread.
I take the length of break I need at the time. As long as it’s over 45mins, it’s got nothing to do with anyone else unless it becomes a silly ■■■■ take which is something I would never do.
Simple as that.

Doesn’t matter as long as the work is done as by the time it should be.
We’re salaried but we must take an hour over the day, unless you go into a 10 hour drive of course. We now must take a break with the tail lift shut as it’s wired into the tracker, no more tipping on break for the ones who like to be in the pub at 3.

Same here - In fact my company don’t monitor us in this way at all or call unless you are seriously late and TBH you should have called them yourself by then.
As long as the job gets done that’s good enough for them and its a great way to work.

from what im told if you go over 50 mins it flags up red somewhere, then a report arrives on your ops managers desk, and he has to explain why you had more than 50 mins break, thats why there dead keen on you using p.o.a as apparently it flags up blue if you go over 50 mins and thats o.k.
its all a bit beyond me as i cant see what difference 3 hrs on p.o.a or 3 hrs on break makes, your still sat there,if they dont want you to have more than 50 mins break then find us something else to do
n.b this might be aload of ■■■■■■■■ as it comes from another driver who got told it by t.o,ive never been told it officially, just relaying what he says
Yes, very strict, they insist we have them.
I have 60 mins !!
i have 60 mins 2* 30 mins
60 minutes break then a 15 minute this afternoon
i have work breaks ,inbetween rest periods i may do a smidge of work ,but not too much
I also have work breaks in between. I had it on break for 6 hours 55minutes and seeing as it was only a 40 minute drive back to the yard I thought having a 45 might be seen as taking the urine slightly.

When I,m not driving i,m on bed, the tacho changes automatically, I normally have anywhere between three and six hours bed a day, never had any comments from boss or the vostapo,
We were told leaving it on break was creating a false record?

i do not understand, how it creates a false record, when I used to get out of the cab I always put in on Rest when not unloading or other work, If I have an hour wait where I know i will not be unloaded I will hop on bunk and place it on rest rather than POA. as I am not actually doing other work if I know I am not going to be doing anything at all 100%.
But I can see how it could confuse, but if it says rest and you are resting then it cant create a false record unless your on back unloading when it is on rest.
Disco
our lot knock an hour off for lunch so i have the hour
mind you most of my night shift I’m sat with it on break anyway as you never know where your going to end up if you end up going out on a call out,
last wednesday for example arrived at our yard @5.50pm put card in 6pm did daily checks etc left yard at 6.20pm 10 min drive to the customers yard, card on break @ 6.30pm on the bunk by 9pm zzzzzzz as I do nothing while I’m waiting for a job then at 4am a job came in for northampton so as I had my 9 hrs off it meant I could take it down tip and get back to the yard for the day driver , as back in the yard for just gone 7.30am so wouldnt start again till 7.30 pm thurs night as that way ive had another 12 off
been working it like this since we went onto 4on/off and the tacho analysis hasnt brought and infrigments to light yet
