I see they’ve reduced the amount of parking for HGV even more
I’ve never really stopped at these services, always go down to Gloucester but I stopped there for fuel yesterday.
Having a look at the front row parking, is it actually possible to get out of a space in an artic when it’s full? Without hitting the bollards at the front, or taking someone’s corner off with your tail swing?
How can they reduce it even more, its been a disgrace since they ruined it couple of years ago , the only days i’ll ever stop at the dump is a Saturday/Sunday and thats during the winter because in the summer the bloody van (not big enough for lorries) park is chock a bloc with soddin wobble boxes
abandoned wherever they happened to stall.
Also apparently issuing tickets to HGVs not parked in hgv bays…
Let’s face it most services see HGVs as a nuisance, very few drivers actually buy anything, they stop for their break and either ■■■■ all over the floor and leave a stinker in the bogs then leave having not spent any money.
Id love to know how much theirs and Michel Woods footfall dropped after the opening of Gloucester. I wouldn’t stop in either now but never pass Gloucester Services without stopping, often for meat from their amazing butchers. Was in Gloucester the other night about 9pm and it was still mad busy

Not sure how to best describe what they’ve done but basically as soon as you go in where the caravan bit was sort of on your left, there were some HGV spaces there…not any more. They seem to have extended the caravan area and put huge kerbs all round it that you can’t put your truck wheels onto.

Why would you buy anything from their way overpriced shops anyway. Its a disgrace the markup they put on items. But no excuse for the lorry park smelling of pee thats for sure

This. If I’m ever down that neck of the woods then I always stop at Gloucester. I got some sausage rolls that were reduced from £5.85! They were expensive but by God they were worth it!

No it’s not possible to get out .
Yeah it’s not cheap but its no more expensive than other services, the only difference being is the quality in Gloucester is so much better. I find the fresh meat is very reasonably priced though. I normally stop to get a T-bone steak and a couple of their lovely pork chops and to see what items have been reduced!

When a car transporter parks on that front row I always look thinking your risking it! I know if someone takes out the overhanging car it’s their fault and their companies insurance to sort it etc but it’s still going to be pain in the backside to sort of if that happens.

Gloucester is great, an example of how services should be.
I’m very rarely down that way, those wee honey and mustard sausages are almost worth the detour.

Gloucester shuts at 22:00
Well 21:30 really.
And a sandwich in there is £4:70 a small bottle of pop £2

Which is different to any Moto or Roadchef dump how exactly?
You can still use the toilets and showers all night, or could the last time I was there.

Yeah the actually building doesn’t shut at 22:00, just the shop and restaurant.
With most of my shifts running into the early hours, what surprises me is you can go into Strensham and it’s absolutely rammed, with trucks parking down the hard shoulder heading down to the roundabout, but head to Gloucester and there’s usually quite a few bays free.

main building was all locked up last time had to use the forecourt
Many of them must be heading down the M50 when they leave Strensham then.
If staying on M5, no way would I stop there, tacho hours allowing, knowing that Gloucester is only another 20 odd minutes down the road.

There’s only 3 reasons why I would stop at the ■■■■ hole.
1/ if I’m going M50 and I can’t make Ross on wye, Monmouth, or a lay-by on the A40. All of which are better than strensham.
2/ if I’m going across to Swindon and won’t be passing Gloucester services
3/ if I’m carrying on down the M5 but don’t have time to make Gloucester

Last time I was in there was during the last shift on my last job. I just managed to squeeze in and get a 45. It was the night of March 1st, that night when the ‘beast from the east’ made the south west a red weather warning zone. They certainly had their moneys worth out of me that night…
