Strange one.

Stopped at MichaelWood services southbound around 9am this morning when an asda wagon comes in escorted by a marked police car. 25 mins later after the driver has been in and out of his cab and talking to officer an unmarked car turns up and plonks two cones down on the double yellow lines just before hgv pumps. As I was leaving I looked down and there was a tape measure alongside. What were they going to test him for?

anything and everything I would suggest, including length

Weren’t testing him for anything.

The drivers brother works for plod and told him if he were getting close to his time, ring in and he’ll get escorted to the nearest safe place.

Then the cones came out, what you saw wasn’t a tape measure but a box of chalk.

The unmarked car was to patrol the area while he slept.

Eye sight?

Could have been a fitness to drive test. ie Drugs test.

there was a tape measure alongside.

they were making sure he was long enough, as…every little helps

Eye sight?

That was my first thought.

And that was my next choice!

The 2 cones are a dynamic anti-tacho blueray beam spotter, and the tape measure is to evaluate the correct distance between the beam eyes :sunglasses:
The unmarked would be tncsi spooks ready to pounce if anyone breaks the beam while the driver slept,
4 red chalk marks are also placed front back and sides of both front wheels to ensure it hasn`t rolled in the wind
Honest,
i heard it in the waiting room @rdc :grimacing:

What ever it was would not be to the drivers advantage thats for sure . And the end result would be to extract some money off someone .

I honestly didn’t think the “blue chip” guys got stopped!

Asda blue chip :open_mouth: most asda trailers i see have any tom ,■■■■ and harry pulling them nowadays.

Asda hasn’t been “blue chip” since the days of Archie Norman. Some would argue it didn’t spend much time being blue chip then either. :unamused:
