Stolen Actros / Palfinger

Came across this appeal from Staffordshire Police. Not hard to spot, I imagine this bit of kit may come in useful if you’re planning a robbery of the century…

APPEAL: Did you see this crane being moved in or around the Cheadle area early yesterday morning?

It was stolen between 12am to 12.30am on Monday 6 January after offenders forced entry to an industrial unit in Brookhouse industrial estate, Brookhouse Way, Cheadle.

The stolen crane, which was in the process of being painted, consists of a Mercedes Actos tractor unit with a ‘pafinger’ crane fitted to the rear. The crane cab is white with the back painted maroon. The crane itself is orange and it is a large 100 tonne crane. Their are no mud guards or visor above the windscreen and part of the grill is missing. It is believed to be worth around £150,000.

Thieves also stole fuel from a cement mixer and forced entry to a neighbouring unit where they stole trade registration plates and caused damage to a HGV.

An investigation into the incidents is underway and we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area.

If you have any information please contact PC Andrew Parry on 101, quoting incident number 90 of January 6. Alternatively, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Shame that’s a nice bit of kit is it brand new hard to tell of my phone. My boss had an man stolen many years ago same kind of thing bought brand new had the truck kitted out it was then sent to a paint shop all around Birmingham area I think where it was nicked. It was all bought and paid for to and he never even got to see it I don’t think the insurance paid out in full either.

Brutal!

Don’t think its brand new, looks like there is already damage to the front of the cab. Maybe it was at a repair shop I don’t know.

If it’s being painted it’s often better to take bits of trim off and do them separately. Pretty sure that’s why it will be part dismantled.

Kit like that is usually stolen to order. I’d imagine it will be soon shipped out the country. Hope is recovered before then.

I’d say it’s new. Hard to tell from the grainy pic, but if it is new that £150k will be just for the crane.

Exactly, it was probably only pinched for the crane. Unfortunately it is probably stripped separated and in a container now ready for sunnier climes. The tractor units are two a penny but cranes like that are worth some serious dough.

Just called the police spotted it parked at riverside business park manchester today. Hope you get it back looked a really nice motor.

Good man!

It’s not my motor, nor do I know who it belongs to. I just came across the appeal and thought TNUK would be the ideal place to repost it as it shouldn’t be hard to spot.

Would be mega if the Actros is reunited with its owner, Truckers 1 Villains Nil.

Cheers!

Lets hope so, Was collecting a motor from GRM just up the road and was suprised to see that sort of motor left there. High value kit like that dont normally get parked up around there so it just looked odd.

Was it still altogether or had it been stripped of the crane as suggested?

They park em up for a day or two after nicking them to check there ain’t a tracker on it.

Thats not big enough to be a 100 tonner crane, looks smaller than a 35 to me

looked to be ok when I passed it.
