Off to Stockholm shortly and been told by another driver that there are 2 ferries to catch on way to Sweden and not to go via bridge to Malmo as it is too expensive and costs more than the return ferries . Also, on looking on map there are 2 ports to use from Denmark to Sweden, which is cheaper/quicker. Thanks
Hia penfold you have fours ways u can go the quickest is the two ferries northbound from puttgarten to rodby takes about 1 hour then drive two hours up denmark to catch ferry from helsinger to helsingborg in sweden takes 20 minutes i use scanlines they are about every 30 minutes (on the old ferry note the truckers 5 choice menu meatballs/mushroomsause,meatballs/tomato sauce,meatballs/picante sauce ect,)when u book buy both ferries on one ticket u save quite a bit
If u go via both bridges it is a lot dearer and about 2 to 3 hours further then u have the trafic over the first bridge which has cost me another couple of hours in busy times not sure of the cost now but think first bridge about 100 eurs and ferries about 150 euros not sure dont tend to look at dkv receipts look on the map and see the diference in mileage ,then you have the malmo bridge and the goteburg ferry with the extra mileage saved the ferries are the cheapest plus u can do stockholm from dutch ports in about two shifts(19hours) hope this is some help klunk
Hia me again dont forget danish/swedish road tax its the same tax that u buy for holland belgium or it was last january if u go the mainland to copenhagen bridge then the helsinger-helsinborg ferry it is slightly cheaper but with the extra kms (about130) it works out dearer, the other ferry is HB lines but after office hours u have to use a ticket machine also safer to let the roaring strait thru scannys go first off the the ferry they all seem in a bit of a hurry, very entertaining. klunk
have a look at the site posted which
have some very good info, for the
SCANDINAVIAN countrys,
as reagrds driveing,also
winter tyres,and snow chains
requirement,
you can go from frederikshavn to goteburg ,and drop in on the way for a cup of coffee,
Or you could use the truckers holiday route and go from Immingham on Tor Line

Yes, I have done that, it’s a very pleasant crossing. Despite the fact that it was howling a gale, the captain was quite happy to show us around the bridge etc.
hope your going via lux so you can fill up

Wheelnut - work for myself now and paid on mileage so it’s Dover/Calais. Got talking to mate and he says he goes Puttgarden to Rodbyhavn then onto Helsingor to Helsingborg.
Yes, that’s the standard way overland. Don’t forget to put your headlights on in Sweden, and be aware that it is a rather expensive country for food and drink etc.
SOME THINK TO READ AND HAVE ALOOK THROUGH

And Denmark.
if going puttgarden rødby ask for the holger danske ferry, its only room for 8 trucks, and runs about 4 times a day but the food and drink are free once onboard because its an old ferry, but the service is excellent
Penfold, that route sounds the best. My Danish car is on winter wheels now and its more important to consider that in Sweden the further up you go. I would try and hit Denmark out of rush hour if you can, as you get near Copenhagen is does get busy, but you will turn off before the city and anyway the evening crossings to Sweden are cheaper than daytime. 20 mins later your in Sweden. You will enjoy the latter part of the trip.
this site is for FINNLAND but is does have some good tips
you may find helpfull.
here u are roy the holger dansk penfold pray tell us how you came on when u return

Rush hour in Denmark? News to me

Straight forward trip. Went as others on here suggested, Puttgarden/Rodbyhaven then Helsingor/Helsingborg. Bought return ferry Puttgarden/Rodbyhaven then went via HH ferries to cross into Sweden as it’s cheaper than Scandlines. Fuel prices in Sweden seem on a par with Uk what with their 25% tax
Been told that Fredrickshaven to Goteborg return is cheaper than using the other two ferries but extra mileage up Denmark would be factor to consider. Also, what is the cost of Goteborg ferry and how frequent is it?
Anyway, got tipped at Kristinehamn then spent 2 days in Germany waiting for backload which I finally got for tipping at Coty, Ashford on saturday.
One other point, does anyone know the cost of 1 way crossing Esbjerg to Immingham? Just wondering cos if up that way at end of week there’s little chance of reload and thought there maybe a cost saving rather than running right to Calais then back up to near York?
