Stobrats to open second “training academy”

Looks like Stobrats have the learning sector within their sights…

Cant see anywhere on there where they offer the BBC … Bridge Bashing Course

I personally see this as a good thing for people wanting to get into the industry.

You only have to look at the amount of posts on here about fresh passes not being given a chance to start work with there new license.

Afaik stobratski pay you a wage while your being trained. Dont see anyone else offering them type of deals, im sure youll have to stay green for a year or two but that will be good experience.

You obviously haven’t looked around much mate lol few of the supermarkets do exactly what stobarts are doing & they don’t all tie you in for a year or so.

They need to order another twin steer training wagon then…

According to the link, it is paid-for training, just like any other LGV driving school, with no wages and only a “guarantee of an interview” at the end.

I don’t think Stobarts are offering to pay trainees on this deal, it’s like a normal training school where you pay to get trained the only difference is they offer almost all trainees a job interview, but that’s not the same as being offered a job.

Good sector for them to dive into as most of the training companies are small businesses. Will be very Easy for them to undercut the competition and run them out of business. That and they have huge brand awareness and the ability to offer people potentially a job which is why people do the training I can see them doing very well.
Can’t see how long their new employees will last though when they realise how many hours they will have to do.

they will only run them for a legal week…how hard can that be.
the only problem will be chronic boredom with being paid from the neck down week in and out.

Stobart academy training is a lot more expensive than most hgv schools are. They will guarantee an interview at the end of it providing that you pass. They obviously will not guarantee anyone a job as that person may not be suitable or may be a desirable future employee for Stobart. That is why they only guarantee an interview so that they are not under obligation to take someone on who they would otherwise not employ. For most a job will be virtually guaranteed.

Stobart good easy job.Tupical job with average pay.Plus Stobart have good agency-logistic people. They offer if want verbal full time with fixed start time with 2 hours windows. No hassle with start time.Finish one shift and Stobart planners talk what time start next day.No hassle with agency timesheets. For any new drivers I can t see any more easy first step to get experience.

How Stobart can undercut another if he not have so much small or casually contract.Stobart really focused in some 5-10big contract. They not do consolidated load.Undercuting do Cool,DHL,Alleyway, pallex and more who provide flexible service and agree collect from 1 pallets to xxxxx

If you ask the average person on the street who is not from a transport background to name a haulage company the majority will say Eddie stobart ,these same folk also think that Eddie stobart is the industry standard setting company that every truck driver dreams of driving for :open_mouth:
So if a young lad who knows very little about the industry sees the Eddie stobart advert for training he will think he is been trained by the best.
Around 15-20 year ago stobarts was in my opinion a decent outfit but these days it’s a disgusting organisation…top to bottom
