Confirming what we knew, eye watering loan at 18%.

Seems to me as though its kicking the can down the road? Still losing money, still in huge debt with now essentially a payday loan top.

Even though the company might be safe, for now, haven’t they still got to sort out if they willing to pay to use the Eddie Stobart name on their trucks as it owned by the Stobart Group and the deal to use it is up for renewal soon?

The irony savers being ripped off with negative interest rates. While workers’ jobs are put at risk because struggling firms are hit with almost 20% interest on funding required to keep them solvent. :unamused: The Tory utopia.

Well, as I’m sure we all appreciate, if you can’t afford to pay the mortgage out of your earnings, the best long-term strategy is to borrow money at 18% interest to pay it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I suppose it depends which would cost the most in the short term, pay the " licence" fee, or take the livery off all the trucks, trailers , uniform and infrastructure. Not sure there is a long term.

I got some diesel at Rugby Truckstop this week, and on all of the pumps there was a laminated piece of A4 paper addressed to Stobart drivers saying words to the effect of “If you are given a tractor unit on a Saturday and it has less than half a tank of fuel, take it back and get a different one”.

So I guess their fuel billing cycle resets at 00:01 on Sunday.

It seems to me that “the chickens are coming home to roost” for “Fast Eddie” and following Wincanton’s withdrawal from a possible acquisition of ESL. David Irlam ( a first class example of a proper Haulier) told me nearly 25 years ago that the “Fast Eddie” modus operandum ( M O) to winning contracts was to cut the bottom out of the rates to win the contract AND THEN over the following year or two attempt to increase the rates to an acceptable level. This approach was wrong and unachievable then as it is now ( Which David Irlam impressed upon me at the time !) and it would seem that they ( ESL) have continued with this mantra ! and look where it has got them ! All “fast eddie” is doing now is to finance the Logistics operations of their main clients ! no wonder Wincanton “walked” ! So watch this space ! Oh! and I can’t understand why Tink is pitching in, he is a time served Joiner from what I have gathered from contacts in The Eden valley so what does he know about “Logistics” and has he got an HGV licence ? ! Bewick.

I very rarely agree with Carryfast, but on this occasion, he hits the nail squarely on the head.

(I’ll go for a lay down in a darkened room now…)

they have had the signs up about fueling at weekends for at least 3 years maybe longer.

I thought the decision was already made! :grimacing:

I thought they had their own fuel/pumps which they fill up themselves?

On another note, there was a Hoyer/s ad in the toilets of Beaconsfield services, hiring for tankers with ‘no previous fuel experience necessary’
